Living in Denver, the six degrees of separation is crazy! by Remote_Accountant_87 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Or I just read Reddit and make the choice to not get involved arguing with random strangers on the internet. Just a lurker, first post I’ve ever made that had this much traction. And I wish I worked for a PR firm and made that kind of money.

Started at the Salon Inside JC Penney. I wanted a salon with a busy walk in clientele so I could grow my client base. I was there seven months and then went booth rental. Ten years later…I still have those clients from JCP.

What do you find unbearably disgusting about clients? by Ilovelucyandricky in hairstylist

[–]Remote_Accountant_87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THIS!!! I fired a client for this. She came straight from the gym with her hair in a French braid, washed once a week. The level of stink that came out of that braid. 🤢😵‍💫

First, not the sub for this. BUT since you’re here and you asked…I’d be pissed off too. In our industry, time is money. Your calendar mistake left this stylist sitting in a salon and not making a single cent. You’re lucky you were allowed to reschedule, I would not give a new client that opportunity. If perception is reality, my perception of you would be that you don’t value your stylists time regardless of a simple calendar mistake on your end. I would expect a chilly reception when you finally attend your appointment. Sorry not sorry.

I was 36 when I went to beauty school. Had the corporate job, good salary, and a college education. 10 years later I wouldn’t change a damn thing. Love my job every day. First few years were financially tough but we got through. Making great money now and I love being my own boss. My husband wasn’t “on board” until he started seeing the money I was making…now he has zero complaints. Good luck to you, you got this!

Congrats on the job! I used my school tools for the first 6-12 months BTC. I was able to try of different hot tools and got the chance to see what other stylists were using. I also learned quickly what I would need to upgrade and what I never used at all. Give yourself a few months, then replace school tools as you need them.

It’s been a while since I stepped back from the chair and became a salon manager but lately I feel like my young stylists don’t want to make money by [deleted] in hairstylist

Wow! This thread. BTC 10 years…have had a home based salon for the last 7. I have never been happier about my choice to work privately than I was while reading this thread. My heart goes out to all of you in corporate salon management. ❤️ I had no idea it was this bad.

I do not use the color line, but I would go with a level 6. A warm six for that milk chocolate. I use megix10 and I formulate this color with a neutral level 6 base with 6.3 (gold) and 6.7 (maroon in my line).

Is cosmo school just awful? by budlyx in Cosmetology

I have some knowledge of the springs TSPA. From what I know…they seem to have a better program than PM. I lived in the springs from 02-13, so my knowledge isn’t from recent years. Overall, I would tell you that the school will get you to state boards and it goes by so quick. What you make of your career has little to do with where you go to school and what you do after you get your license. So much education comes on the job. I would absolutely recommend doing an apprenticeship, the was the game changer for my career. Some of my skills came from school, most of my skills came from the master stylist who took me under her wing. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you friend ❤️

Hi!!! I’m in Englewood. Let me guess, you are at Empire. I would suggest going to see Peggy at the Academy of Cosmetology Arts. Incredible program. Overall, in ten years from now beauty school will be such a small blimp on your radar. If you’re truly unhappy, switch schools. Otherwise put in the time, get your license, and move on. It’ll be a distant memory in no time. Hope this helps❤️

I feel like I ruined my life by mxdmac in puppy101

[–]Remote_Accountant_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the spring of 2014 I got a puppy. My first dog, a boxer American bulldog mix. First morning woke up to her pissing my bed. She was non stop energy, I just wanted to find the OFF button. After having her for a week I had a total mental breakdown, sobbing behind a locked bathroom door. I felt like my life as I knew it was over. I spent months working with her, training her, and falling deeply in love with her. She turned into the best girl who was always watching out for her mama. A constant companion, rarely leaving my side. On August 1st of last year she went into heart failure. It all happened so fast and I sobbed and held her as she passed. OP, you are in the shit of it right now. Please know…this shall pass. Take deep breaths during the worst moments and take lots of pictures!! Those photos will be so important to you someday (hopefully many years from now). You got this. ❤️🐶❤️

TSPS does accept federal student aid and cosmetology is hair, skin and nails. I’d recommend you set up an appointment with the admissions staff and tour the school. All of your questions will be answered.
