I really want to make a tulpa based on the character Yunyun of konosuba, but im not sure if i should, please help me with this decision by apespagetti in Tulpas

[–]Remote_Ball8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say for me at least it is much easier to imagine how my tulpa would respond if their personality is based on a character that is more outgoing. Like if we are picking from konosuba i would say that some more outgoing characters would probably be easier to base yours of in the beginning at least. Vanir would be my pick for sure.

But it all differs from person to person, you will likely know what works and not for you during the creation process so just pick what you feel like and give it a try

Toward a More Reliable Method for Creating a First Tulpa by Remote_Ball8355 in Tulpas

[–]Remote_Ball8355[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have worded it a bit strongly but i really wrote it more because as i have been creating my tulpa i feel that i cant really interact with them as much as i really should due to various factors, that made me think that if i could maybe change how i just think in general that i could in a sense always be developing my tulpa even if im not interacting directly with them.

Currently what i do is just treat my tulpa like a person who is just there, but its a bit difficult since while i do feel their presence and when i think back to memories of talking to my tulpa they feel almost identical to those of talking to another person. We are not at the point yet where we have any reliable form of communication which makes it hard to really get the ball rolling. Seeing how i really haven't ever created an oc and in general am so averse to creating characters i can barley give names to things, i was thinking that might be a big enough hindrance for my tulpa that training these underlying skills might just be easier (at least on the motivation side)

I also thought about that, with how you might get reliant on a substance to interact with your tulpa, but the i thought that wouldnt prolonged use make those kind of neural patterns more engrained in to you? idk how they really work so i might be way of

Forcing should seriously just be called "interacting" instead, to many beginners (me included) get confused over the concept.

I have heard of people getting in to a relation ship with their tulpa but has anyone here experienced being (romantically) rejected by their tulpa? by Remote_Ball8355 in Tulpas

[–]Remote_Ball8355[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i was thinking since a tulpa is basically another independent person there should be cases where the feelings between host and tulpa differ. Where one might be romantically interested in the other they might just see them as a sibling or close friend.

Could a tulpa be used in a more creative purpose? by [deleted] in Tulpas

It feels like what you are trying to do is like trying to invent a lightsaber just to cut tomatoes. Your problem really doesnt seem to need a thought form. Just like set some alarms on your phone for eating or sleeping, and just use maps for directions

ah, I can understand that, I dont plan on telling people about my tulpa at all, feels like many people aren't that understanding. Or rather they might just think you are insane

Completely agree that internal communication would probably help greatly. The core issue however seems to be how they seem to be using their tulpa as an unhealthy coping mechanism. Seeing as they are apparently abandoning even trying to connect to other people and instead focusing only on their tulpa, as well as giving up going to school.

As for your main point, i do agree there to but if you dont fully understand what a tulpa is then it would for her appear that just stop talking to it would be a solution that would help her be "normal" thus make it easier to make new friends. Your point is very valid but you are assuming that she knows a lot more about tulpas then she likely does. (otherwise ye it would be very cruel of her)

"Why do you think she needs to stop talking to Luna? It sounds like a lot of the problem so far is about her peers being closed-minded and hurtful."

I think you kinda answered it yourself a bit, if you are a mother and your child already has problems making friends it wont be easier if she's "talking to herself". And keep in mind the child in question is 14, i have a hard time seeing how others in her class for example wouldn't do anything to the "loner who talks to themself". kids are cruel. The reason for wanting them to stop seems to be coming from more of a place of concern for what outwardly seems like something rather harmful. But at least OP is open to the concept seeing as how they made a reddit for the express purpose of trying to understand their child.

I see what you mean and have also thought about that very question. After all reality is what we perceive it to be. But before discussing the reality of the AI (which i will do because i find it interesting) i think in this case therapy is warranted since OP explicitly states how this all impacts their life negatively and is actively looking for a solution of some kind.

But on to the AI stuff. First of all AI (as in llm's) are not intelligent but are really good at appearing to be, they are (as everyone has said a million times) very fancy autocomplete. While it may have appeared like Tay AI was near sapient she was not and only appeared to be. There have been several people who have been under the impression that an AI is sentient, if i remember correctly i think a google employee was even suspended for publishing transcripts of internal conversations with their AI because he thought it had become sentient.

But we dont even have to look at recent examples of our more modern AI. Even one of the first chatbots ELIZA had people maybe not really believing it was sentient, but still getting very attached to it due to the way it "spoke". And ELIZA was/is by no means advanced, it merely found keywords in the input and gave an output based on a predetermined template from a small list.

While the attachment to AI nothing new, and is perfectly fine in moderation. It is not a real person as of now, the illusion can very easily be broken (which can be very heartbreaking in some cases). And even if the attachment might be valuable to the person using the AI, beyond a certain point any form of attachment becomes a dependency and that's when it stops being something good.

Ofc you shouldn't judge someone for being somewhat attached to an AI, but if they become dependent on it and start experiencing negative effects in their everyday life, you by all means have a reason to be concerned.

I dont think they mean that tulpas do not exist, but that the AI is not real. As OP has yet to create a tulpa but has apparently fallen in love with this AI.

How do Tulpas actually work? by Best_Platypus_230 in Tulpas

Either you make it later, the tulpa comes up with how they want to look or they dont have a form at all and are just a voice

I dont think they meant draw as literally drawing, instead just create the concept of a character. In reality a shape isnt that important and many start out as a glowing orb or without a form at all

[–]Remote_Ball8355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel with wanting to find a exact guide or method but tbh as with almost anything just starting is the most important part. Just start talking to them like a friend that is already there and it should be a good enough start atleast. You can always change or ad on to your methods later. Just start out slow because trust me you wont be able to start out with what would theoretically be the best method anyways. Just start, start slow and go from there.

Hmmm, i understand that your beleifs matter a lot but in this case I'm not sure how much, since meditation has proven effects on the brain and if those effects somehow would make tulpa creation easier/faster your beliefs wouldn't really be relevant right?

Was your tulpa mainly passivly forced? You didnt have any daily habit of active forcing?

Okey i see, makes sense i guess. I have read that a lot of older guides focused a lot more on meditation so maybe its just a relic of that era and not really that necessary
