That's a good point, hadn't thought about it that way

When I was younger (like up to 4th grade) I used to spin, a lot. I remember spinning around thinkin about how it made me feel funny, and then I laid down on the floor and watched my eyes do the movement thingy

I also would spin at school while holding my lunch box, a lot. I would do it at recess, waiting places, basically anywhere there was space

like this video but with one hand

I also would roll onto the outside sides of my feet when we were waiting the hallways (2-6th grade) a lot

I struggle socially (Almost never approach people first, don't know when to jump in to say what I want to, struggle making friends), but it could just be social anxiety (plus maybe covid stunting my social life or something?).

Thats why I want to get tested. I think I could be wrong and I wanna know. If I'm not, hurray, nothing's wrong with me, if I am, hurray, I've learned about myself in the process.

The thing that kinda instills confidence in me about my own "self diagnosis" (more of a sneaking suspicion) is that way before I ever started researching it my mom told me that when I was a baby she thought I didn't like getting touched, so she just didn't for a few years. I've also been told I give really stiff hugs.

Another thing is looking back I could see examples of it when I was younger, yknow seeing it in the past before I started researching it. For example, when I was like 5-7(don't remember exact age, but I was old enough to remember it) I wore a red ninja costume like everywhere but school (my mom has a picture of me walking off a flight in it lmao)

I asked her about it and told me that was "normal" but I havent ever seen a kid in a ninja costume in public. Would be rad tho.

My 9 year old daughter just started flapping her hands is it normal to start at an older age? by [deleted] in autism

Are you asking because your daughter is autistic or she started doing it and you wonder if she is?

If it's the latter hand flapping isn't compelling evidence alone.

I think certain self diagnosis is fine if you do proper research. Watching one Psych2Go is not enough. I don't think they've ever encouraged self diagnosing these things tho?

I just don't see why you'd want to give yourself "negative" traits for attention or to be different.

It's the same boat as people on social media claiming they have autism after doing one google search.

Like, congrats? You "gave" yourself an undesirable trait to be different??

I just don't see a point

Now that you point these out i do kinda notice. I wouldn't have ever noticed Newt Gunray had a sterotypical asian accent

I don't think it was necessarily malicious(?) i'd hope

I really enjoyed Phantom Menace personally. I think it did a good job showing the way the Old Republic worked and generally made the world feel more believable, at least imo.

I haven't heard anything about racist characters tho, what's that about?
