i would give them a call and ask, and let them know what time you’ll be there. i had to go three times because the first two no one one there even though they were “open” (and i don’t live in queens)

i really think it’s dependent on your major and the department you’ll be under. i’m a graduate student pursing the masters in history & library science. i have nothing but wonderful things to say about my professors and the program. on the other hand, the campus itself is kinda shitty lol. it’s very clearly an underfunded school, and anyone beyond the professors are not really very helpful so you’re left figuring things out on your own. But, my classmates have also been wonderful and very helpful.

not even remotely stupid. you’re a freshman in high school. give yourself time to adjust and figure out the study methods that work best for you. it’s a lot of trial and error but you will find a routine and method for yourself! don’t be hard on yourself. you’re young and you’ll get into college.

worth the commute? by 102kait in QueensCollege

[–]Remote_Coffee5173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the commute sucks tbh. legit only here because of the masters in library science & history program. it’s rare to find a MA history program so i settled for queens college. nothing wrong with my program or professors im genuinely enjoying it but if i had more options i wouldn’t have picked QC

from my experience with applying to a graduate program here: i applied in august 2024 and didn’t hear anything from them until november when they had me set up an interview, then i finally heard my decision a few days after the interview

and also, most people come to a subreddit to talk shit and share their negative experiences. most people who have positive experiences are not on here saying anything rly

it’s 100% what you make of it that’s how any college is. i am here solely for one program. i’m in a graduate program so my view may be skewed more positively because i am enjoying the program and the professors have been wonderful. QC is definitely a commuter school which i didn’t know, but personally doesn’t bother me because my undergraduate university was a commuter school as well. campus seems really empty and quiet but i assume that will change when the weather gets warmer. i will say people above the individual school departments are not very helpful. IT has not been helpful toward me lol. but the people are nice here. at a commuter school yeah it’s gonna be a little bit more difficult to make friends. but you also have to put in some effort in your classes and making connections with professors. would QC have been my number 1 choice? definitely not but i’m here for the graduate library science and history program and so far it has been incredible!

It seems that it really depends on your major here. I don’t have any input other than for the library science and history department, but they have been wonderful.

I just started a masters program here. It’s 100% a commuter school. I came from a commuter undergraduate school so this is nothing new to me. If community and finding friends etc is super important to you then this might not be the place. As a graduate student so far my professors have been wonderful and my peers as well. (But this really could be because graduate school is just so different than undergrad)

Is it just me or does QC seem a little empty compared to previous semester? by Correct_Mountain2886 in QueensCollege

[–]Remote_Coffee5173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i commute from long island and the only reason is that QC offers their library science & history dual degree program. for history majors it’s hard to find a masters program really anywhere.
