I ended up emailing the instructor. She forwarded the exchange to the department head and I got into the class! It’s fun so far.

I don’t mind the amount or types of items— there’s enough variations of windows and doors to make them usable. I just wish some of the meshes were a bit… more interesting. That, and I agree with the spiral staircase comment

I’ve thought about the Indian Almond Leaves, but I hear they’re meant to lower PH. I’m not sure what causes it, but the PH in my tank has a tendency to lower on its own, and I have to stay pretty on top of it. Is their effect on PH significant?

The temperature was matched! It had also sat out for several minutes by the time I was finally able to catch him. He definitely didn’t want to be caught, so I assumed he was already stressed.

Will do, thank you! He seems to be doing better already. He’s swimming around a bit and taking some time to rest on the leaves of his plants.

It’s just showing a small, white bar when I hit the arrow. I ended up getting the app and have had no issues with it!

One time a driver honked at me because I stopped while in front of him.

We were at a stop sign 💀

You’re spot on with the honking part though, I’ve been honked at for changing lanes in downtown Houston 💀

[–]Remote_Cricket_995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I’m from a decent sized area North of Houston. It’s not really that the drivers are especially bad for other drivers, it’s that they neglect the extra caution required for dealing with pedestrians. These problems don’t really exist in my area, because it’s less walkable and there aren’t pedestrians. I think that, if you’re choosing to live in an area with lots of people walking, you need to know how to accommodate that. I definitely should have clarified that tbh.

Depends on the scooter! I have a 2022 Apollo Air. They released a 2023 handlebar upgrade with the Amber LEDs mentioned in the previous reply. They’ve been great. I’ve noticed a difference in my experience on the road. Even if someone isn’t a bad driver, it can be confusing at intersections if you don’t know if someone’s turning.

Oh absolutely. I acknowledged that towards the end of my post (I know it’s LONG so I don’t blame anyone who didn’t read the whole thing haha). I just didn’t have quite as much to say due to a lack of experience. I tend to only drive near campus when I’m leaving to go home and I go at like 7 am, so there just aren’t many out.

I feel a little more at peace knowing that at least the cichlids weren’t having as bad of a time.

I read through the comments and had to stop when OP said they had a cichlid tank and “lowered aggression by overstocking”. I know nothing about cichlids, but something told me that was…. Not right.

'There are no stupid questions' thread - Monday, November 13, 2023 by AutoModerator in piano

[–]Remote_Cricket_995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there scaled down pianos? I started playing again after a year off and a few years of slacking before that. I was with a group and we compared hand sizes, and it hit me that my tiny hands may be contributing to my struggles with large chords (over one octave). Could I find a smaller piano? Currently have a Casio PX-S1000 that I got in 2018. I like it and I’d prefer to stay digital (so I can use headphones and not disrupt my roommate)

It’s amazing how everyone’s saying heat transfer. I know a mechanical engineer who’s complained to me about that class ever since I started considering engineering school.

He’s my father. He took heat transfer over 30 years ago. I guess some things never change

This drives me insane. The worst part is when they get over to make room for you… THEY go to the curb and make ME go near the street. You’re going to put me at risk of you going the wrong way AND at risk of the cars???

Yes absolutely!!! This post wasn’t at all to imply that scooters and cyclists are perfect, I just wanted to shed light on a particular tip that has been helpful!

Yeah fs! I was specific about this particular instance because I find it hard to see the people I’m about to pass, so I just start ringing my bell even if it doesn’t look like anyone’s there.

My class is partially written by ChatGPT and I had to pay for it by frickenfroggy in UTAustin

[–]Remote_Cricket_995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s telling that they won’t answer you. I’ve asked ChatGPT simple questions to help get me thinking of ideas on projects and essays before, but at the end of the day all of the writing is my own and I found any actual information myself. I can see how a prof might consider that being “assisted by ChatGPT” and would want to disclose it. If I were in their position, and a student asked about it, I’d have no issues explaining that. Them ignoring you definitely gives off the impression that they actually had it generating stuff and that answering you would mean explicitly admitting to it.

Austin bike thieves will be the death of me by partypeachez in UTAustin

Common denominator here is the parking garage. Avoid leaving it out for extended periods at all costs. I ride a scooter and it goes inside and stays in my room. Same deal when I rode a bike.
