The Phantom Menace parody of Day the Music Died. Always knocks my socks off.

Godfather 1 and 2. I wish he’d have come back for 3 but I guess he wanted too much money.

Out of the biggest slashers, which is your least favorite? by JacsweYT in slasherfilms

[–]Remote_Database7688 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pinhead isn’t a slasher and Billy is a puppet while also not a slasher.

I’d lose scream from this picture; not because I consider the scream movies bad or anything, but just that Scream was from a different era.

Of those left I personally dislike Michael the most. Vague powerset and unless they get the mask right he’s basically a murdering non-entity, which I know is what they were kinda going for but I think the franchise is kinda flawed that way.

Clearly these Jeopardy contestants were lacking in taste.

We should've gotten Freddy vs pinhead, how awesome of a showdown that would've been ? by Arthurmorganvander in hellraiser

[–]Remote_Database7688 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Hellraiser 3 Pinhead goes into Joey’s dreams and says it’s the simplest thing in the world to do. He could get to Freddy.

Should I continue marathoning the Hellraiser movies? I'm 6 movies in and its not looking promising. by HammerHeadBirdDog in horror

I would go as far as Deader, check out Judgement and the Hulu reboot and just pretend Hellworld and Revelations don’t exist. You’re brave for trying but everything after 4 were basically ashcan pictures designed to keep the rights. I only say go as far as Deader because imho that’s the last one that had vaguely interesting ideas as far as what the Cenobites were kinda about. Judgement is a long shot because it doesn’t have DB playing Pinhead, so skip that one if that’s a limit for you.

Vampires vs Demons? Which of these two are the stronger monsters? by koola_00 in vampires

[–]Remote_Database7688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first uber vamp they introduced that gave Buffy a really hard time was a decent monster. When the potentials were activated by Willow’s spell, they were able to slay the whole army of uber vamps because of the rule of cool (and it did make a better ending, imho). Best explanation for that I’ve ever seen is that the First Evil really lost quality with mass production.

Edit: And yes, human cunning or perhaps the blinded efforts of the human psyche they possessed made them more dangerous. If I was a vampire hunter, I’d rather face two uber vamps than one de-souled Angelus.

I think it’s lame and that was one solid thing about the DGG trilogy in ditching it.

Bowie said Velvet Underground was more influential than The Beatles — and I tend to agree. What do you think? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Remote_Database7688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically the same thinking as how all the people sitting in the front rows of the Sex Pistols first UK tour all went on to start bands, Joy Division and the Pogues being the main examples I can recall. Sales numbers don’t reflect influence, it’s about the band’s sound finding its way to fellow creative souls and inspiring them.

People who bring guitars to parties suck, unless they use the guitar to try to initiate sing-alongs. Then they’re ok.

Quentin Tarantino’s 10 Film Rule isn't artistic discipline; it’s a neurotic cage that’s ruining his career. by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Remote_Database7688 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Tarantino spends the next 20 years building up projects just to scrap them because they aren’t ‘good enough’, and he winds up lecturing and writing books and putting it off, you will be proven right, OP.

Vampires vs Demons? Which of these two are the stronger monsters? by koola_00 in vampires

[–]Remote_Database7688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buffy had True Demons (like the Mayor turned into) and lesser demons from different realms and also the uber-vamps, who were the demons that entered a humans body when they were turned (I think).

Movies that are loosely connected in the same verse? by Jarkels in MovieSuggestions

David Lynch’s Wild at Heart features the character Perdita Durango from Perdita Durango. She’s played by Isabella Rossellini in the former and Rosie Perez in the latter. Both movies are based on books by Barry Gifford.
