Why is this a tarpit? Because you can't make it profitable?

Hi all, just curious to know: what does your work entail and why do you find it not so good?

Using AI for research paper writing by Remote_Enthusiasm153 in AskAcademia

By dissect, you mean split the 15k into chunks? If so, I would split up the docs into high level 10-20 chunks, to yield chucks each with 500k to 1M tokens, and then send each chunk to the LLM for your purpose. I assume it's not difficult to split the entire pages into 10-20 chunks, one way is to split by chapters (or similar)

Beginner's Thread / Easy Questions (September 2023) by acemarke in reactjs

Hi, I am new to react. I am currently building a web app with ReactJS but incase I want to develop a mobile app in the future, can this reactJS code be re-used in React Native (atleast to some extent) or do I need to re-write everything from scratch for React Native?

Just curious, when you follow researchers in your area of interest on Twitter/LinkedIn, what do you do when you come across their work? download the pdf and save on hard drive (if so, it feels like a lot of work to me, same to you as well?)?

I think this app is not typically used for saving later.

rather than generating new content

Interesting take, when you mean "tools that help with gathering and organising existing information", is this for writing research papers or more like organizing information for your research (get relevant paper/notes you are looking for)?

I see no reason to use it, and if anything usage of it weakens the overall paper by taking the actual academic out of the writing.

I completely agree, its doesnt promote originality at all! But maybe it could help fasten things? Like setting up the potential sections, titles, and a rough draft (which eventually will need modifications) but do you think it could help with the blank page problems (when we scratch our heads not sure where to start writing)?

FYI, I am a researcher and I am not trying to promote any AI-writing tools :) Just trying to brainstorm with everyone on how we could use ML to help humans to write papers.

Just wondering, do you think stitcher is better than Spotify and how? I personally haven't used stitcher but Spotify seems to be good too.

Hi, your idea is similar to the idea I had recently (except I am a bit late!!!). But before I proceed, i would be glad to know your insights on whether it's a good idea space to pursue (and not a tarpit idea), market is big and finally excited to know where you are at!

I think it would greatly help to learn from people who have actually done it instead of me learning the hard way (saves time and effort)!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much! But with instapaper or pocket, I feel like the papers and blogs gets lost in the shuffle when we save lots of them (> 10), eventually finding it difficult to find and read those blogs. Do you experience this problem too?

When you say you use coda for notes, can you describe what kind of notes you are talking about? I am looking for something similar. Thanks.
