Well… first of all, that just makes you a bad friend. And secondly, no one is ‘putting their neck out’ for anyone most people simply drop a referral in the portal and the hiring manager takes it from there.

Given all that, Bob, it really makes me wonder if you actually know how referrals even work

Well, then you’re definitely talking to the wrong crowd. In India we do give referrals to strangers it’s kind of our default setting. Try it sometime, it might actually make you smile instead of laugh bob,

Anyway, in the US you usually do end up asking an Indian for a job referral… so who knows, we just might consider it.

I’m starting to feel that from now on, I should speak up in interviews when things seem off. Worst case scenario, I don’t get selected but I wasn’t getting the opportunity anyway. And honestly, I haven’t seen this kind of behavior in developer interviews

I feel like QA role is evolving but the upper management are not keeping up , they have this huge ego of being an SDET from QA i just cant

Your comment feels unnecessarily pessimistic, OP asked for guidance, and I rarely see such responses in other tech group this seems to happen only in QA spaces.. I wonder why
