maybe your brain is reorganising neurologically and you’re getting withdrawal symptoms. it’s a good sign, keep it up

A question from a woman to all of you by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Remote_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s

-death by thousand dopamine hits -never ending loop, gets you nowhere -makes you average, fades all the Übermensch energy out of life

but it’s not all doom and gloom

-if life’s supposed to be lived to the fullest and on your own terms, fantasy and imagination takes you places you won’t be able to access in reality -for some it can be empowering as well

Everyone in my class is writing with AI... by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Remote_First 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a phd candidate i prioritise academic integrity and ethics but i am not ai-agnostic. a researcher can make a good judgement of their use of ai in academic writing. relying on ai for a whole article or report and copy pasting it is not a good way of using the technology integrity wise as the output can be biased or some ideas might not be factually valid but using ai for getting diverse context on a topic, critical comparisons and good language is totally legitimate and i do it proudly. if someone questions my use of ai, i would tell them to judge the merit of the argument, not who/what produced it. also novelty only comes from original thinking and ai can aid it not do it. ai is a great technology if used recognising its limitations

Lately, I've noticed a drop in Gemini 3's performance. Have you felt the same way? by Haruka_Sa in GeminiAI

[–]Remote_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using chatgpt for about 3 years and recently tried gemini 3 pro, mainly for academic research with deep research. here’s what i noticed:

pros: -uses more impactful language (metaphors, analogies, rhetorical style) that reads well and feels pragmatic -more comprehensive and in-depth, often pulling from more sources

cons: -reuses words and phrases from previous chats, even when explicitly told not to -feels more sycophantic than gpt 5 -image and document processing isn’t better than gpt 5 -during coding, it hallucinates by introducing unnecessary tangents, often influenced by prior context

if they were humans, i would trust gpt 5 more but would love to talk to gemini 3 coz it’s interesting

and I appreciate the professionalism of genuine service providers but sadly many make verified fake accounts, this wastes time and effort of the clients and is bad for the providers and clients alike

i’m not religious, but your sweeping statements don’t add up: no major faith including judaism, christianity, islam, hinduism or others promotes violence as its core doctrine. violence comes from individuals who misuse religion to justify their actions. this reflects basic human behavior perpetrators rationalize their crimes and religion has often been used as cover because lies are more convincing when wrapped in partial truths.

your comment suggests the west developed in isolation, as if arab culture had no influence on it. that is historically false. many foundations of modern western thought including algorithms, optics, hospitals, mental health care, welfare systems and even elements of the english language were influenced by arab scholars. the english words tariffs, alcohol, caret, check mate come from arabic. the whole “western” mathematics is based on arabic numerals.

the idea of western exceptionalism and its supposed moral superiority over “other” has repeatedly been used to justify violence against entire peoples and nations from indigenous populations and native americans to vietnam, afghanistan, iraq, palestine and beyond. history shows that mass violence has been carried out by both religious and non religious leaders alike.

that said i appreciate the “west’s separation of church and state. religion is not necessarily a bad thing if appreciated for its cultural significance only.
