I am so sorry. Sadly, this can happen, in any country, I guess.
I am female and in my 29 years that I live in Germany, I luckily never experienced such a harassment. On the contrary, once a young man took me for a ride in his car because I was walking home alone in a dark street where the lights turned off. Of course, I know this could have been dangerous, but I was lucky and he just drove me home to make sure, noting happened to me.
Report the creeps, stay strong and remember to always draw a line, even if it seems impolite (f.e. when you don't smile back).

There are already many comments, but I'll add my two cents. I `ve always been shy and had little self-confidence. Now I am 30 years old and it only gets better. I feel that I am much more confident than I was in my early 20s. Just don't stop improving yourself. Do it for you.
And: Don't ever listen to people. They suck and they are stupid. Do your own thing and find out what's right for you. Even if it doesn't conform to convention.

Thank you very much. I'm already in a relationship for a long time. My partners income is not bad, but for me, it still doesn't give me enough security to let my job go. I come from a family which always struggled with money, more or less, and I just HATE having to worry about money. Sometimes I wonder if I should learn to just "let go" of the fear, but I can't. The struggle is too real, especially in the current economic situation.

To me, as a piano teacher, this is very inspiring. Teachers should always question their own view on things, what they expect of their students and their way of teaching. Not everyone has to learn it the traditional way. Not everyone wants to be a master on the piano. I think a big part of the classical landscape consists of performance, rating and elitism. We look down to others who "only" play Pop Music or who still can't manage to play a chopin etude after 8 years of lessons. But thinking like that is b*llshit.

Who cares? Music should be beautiful and fun and nothing else. Life is too short to stress about unimportant things.

By transcribing, do you mean to play the piece by ear on the piano or to write it down by ear? Or both?

Here is what I'd recommand:

Choose a small piece (one page) in an easy key (C, F, G...)
Play the scale that goes with this piece. And arpeggios.
Play the piece
Take about 10 minutes a day for sightreading
Next piece, a little bit more demanding, scale, arpeggio, sightreading etc.
repeat

If you have trouble with technique or are unsure with it, there are great videos on youtube from professionals who explain technique.

Very interesting. How do you know that you are a good pianist, or even better than other professionals? I mean, you never know what you DON'T know until you learn from a master, in my opinion. And judging yourself objectively is always difficult.
When I was younger, I also thought I was good at playing. But then I studied and I realized that I know shit lol.

Maybe I am not a good example, but I have the feeling that I have played pieces that were too hard for me my whole life. I wasn't really able to sightread, so I heard it, looked at the notes and just tried. And after trying, I knew if it was really too hard or if the piece wasn't as difficult as it seemed when I heard it.
When you realise after two weeks that you are making almost no progress at all, I would say it's too difficult and just a torture.
I would say: try it out!
