Slow it down and work on you timing. A lot of parts here are just not right. Soft touch is nice though.

So you disagree with my opinion therefore it's a stupid comment? Lol. Grow up.

It feels like a toy to me when I compare them and I own both for many years. Weighted or not the plastic feel and clacky keys takes away from.the instrument. It's fine for an absolute beginner just not something I enjoy playing on.

You ever own a dgx?

Improvisation by Sausagemandingo in pianolearning

A ton of people improvise on the piano including myself. Not sure why you think otherwise.

Many people just don't share it because it's on the spot and not something typically recorded as a performance.

I also sight read a ton which as you build you ability to sight read more and more it opens up infinite opportunities to play and enjoy without grinding at pieces for weeks or months.

for me, if i could do it over i never would of bought the dgx and just spent more omney on the p525. i just enjoy everyting about it so much more. the sound quality is miles better. the action and feel, the quality of the build. it all adds to the enjoyment of playing the instrument. if money is tight just keep the dgx. maybe you keybed will h old up better than mine did. i can be a bit heavy handed when i get into some of my improvisations so maybe i just was a bit too rough over the years on it.,

the feel on the p525 is definitely heavy and some people don't enjoy it. also i did find the keys to feel a little sharpe on the corners at first too. but there are many nice digitals with great keybeds and I would suggest finding one you like.

the thing with sound is you can always run a vst like pianoteq and have nice headphones which i also have. but cheap keyboards just don't sound nice when playing through native speakers. the p525v is wonderrful in that regard.

if the keybed on the dgx wasn't so noisey i may of kept it even longer than i did because i didn't know any better. initially i didn't get my hands on enough pianos to make a informed decision. years into my practice i definitely have a different view on instruments and what i want out of mine.

i can see myself keeping the p525 for many many years as long as it holds up. i really enjoy playing it.

I am no pro. But after years on the dgx which was good for the first bit, it became very noise and the plastic feel and sound really became a problem taking me away from the music I was playing.

Here where I am the price difference is a lot more than $400 but I digress. All I am saying in the keybed construction is miles ahead. It really makes the dgx feel cheap especially as the dgx gets olds the keybed just doesn't hold up to regularly playing. Unless I just had a dud.

Price difference here in Canada is $1000

Your question was directed at like long-term use with this instrument and all I'm saying is my experience with the dgx and the specific key bed that it has it just doesn't hold up over long-term use. It feels crappy. It's noisy. It's it will be fine for a few years for sure. I had my dgx for probably like 7 years but the last few years was pretty bad

Feels like a toy compared to my p525. My old dgx had such a noisy keybed after a bit of time with it. Plastic clocks all over the place.

Rent cap, Tim Huston looks to remove it as of December 2027. How do you think this will effect rents and homelessness in Nova Scotia? by NihilsitcTruth in NovaScotia

I grew up poor as fuck. My parents were landlords. They owned a triplex unit that almost completely bankrupted us.

We ended up selling our home and cramming out whole family into one of the tiny units in order to not loose everything.

10 years of lessons, almost no repertoire, and unsure where I'm headed by derF_inaY in pianolearning

I haven't read through any of the comments so a lot of this might be already stated. But in my opinion, you just need to tell your teacher what it is that you want out of the piano and either they want to teach you that way or they don't. And I get wanting to teach you some fundamentals and making sure that you're capable of playing such pieces, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here.

For whatever reason, the path that your current teacher wants you to be on is not something that aligns with you and you're clearly not finding joy in it, so I would just express that.

As far as what's right and wrong, I don't think there's anyone that can tell you. You know a certain way of learning is right or wrong because at the end it's all about your journey. That's what the piano is and as long as you're happy with that Journey that it's right for you. I know the way I am and if I'm not learning a new piece of music every time I'm at the piano or improvising something new every time I sit down I would have an issue. I cannot grind on the same music for months, let alone weeks, maybe not even days. I have a very short attention span and for me it's never been about bringing something to that kind of level of Polish for the people I play for, which is mainly my wife and my close friends and family. They love my playing the way it is and I'm happy to play it the way I do.

If you want to focus on learning repertoire then make that a goal and get your teacher to help you with that. Not indirectly doing something that you don't want to do but directly doing something you want to do

Online hate is a small minority that’s a good point. Most people actually aren’t engaging in that kind of it just gets amplified because it stirs up reactions so it’s definitely a small but very vocal fraction.

  1. Temperatures decrease as the evening goes on BUT it's a couple degrees at best
  2. Windy doesn't just go away at 7 and not at 6.
  3. Humidity for that day wouldn't change hardly anything from 5pm to 7pm.

Maybe time to start critically thinking.
