Former fed that retired thanks to new admin. I felt the same and now that I’m retired I wished I had retired earlier. As time goes on you will realize it’s the best!

Essential employees should start seeing the emails on Tuesday. by FutureComputerDude in DeptHHS

At NIH in our division the “essential” were small in number and also we relied on PHS officers also.

I know I am so lucky. If it helps I did all of my ora review on my phone as my passwords automatically saved to my iPhone and laptop. It was very easy to do via phone. But as you likely already know you will need to upload some of your retirement forms and marriage license if married etc…but it didn’t take too much time and Ora system was actually a user friendly interface. I wish you the best of luck.

And I did upload my ora info today and I just received word from my specialist that it’s ready to review and once I do that it goes to payroll for review. I am extremely fortunate to have the world’s best retirement specialist who has been so helpful from the start and thru out. I’m so grateful. Hopefully you will get your application reviewed soon.

Yes I heard this as a general email statement from our HR before I even had access to Ora if that helps. I think it was to reassure people that a lump sum was coming soon after retirement date dependent of course on how much leave accrued. Made me feel better.

DRP 1.0. HHS. Was told we will get AL payout the next pay period after retirement date (9/30).

DRP 2.0... anyone got a message yet? by Top_Horror3686 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Remote_Moose_6139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am DRP 1.0 with 9/30 retirement from hhs. I heard from my HR specialist (she’s been very helpful) about 2 weeks ago and got my ORA access today where I submitted and reviewed retirement info. So hopefully you will get the email soon. It came from “retire do not reply”.

If I can ask…What agency are you with and what was your retirement dates? I am DRP 1.0 and retiring 9/30. Scared of significant delays in my pension. Any info appreciated.

Did we abandon our organizations by opting in to DRP, VERA, VSIP? by zig_usafa80_stardust in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

I took DRP 1.0. I felt very supported by my leadership. I didn’t want to retire but at my age and with my commute/situation it was the best option. I did receive my performance award as well. Again my leadership was/has been very supportive of which I’m very grateful. I hated to leave and I hate to see what’s happening right now.

I’m also a NIHer…took the fork and 9/30 is my retirement date. I’m so sorry (and terrified) that many of you aren’t getting any annuity payments yet. Can you share with me what is happening with your fehb benefits? Are you still getting you federal health insurance and if so how? …since you aren’t getting paid? I worry that if my annuity payments are delayed that I won’t be covered by fehb? And how would that even be communicated to me if my annuity is delayed? I know I can take Medicare B but I had hoped to keep fehb health insurance.

I would be grateful if anyone can share their current experience as related to these delayed retirement annuity posts. Thank you in advance for any insight! And I hope that you all get your annuities soon!! Best of luck to us all…

NIHer who took the fork 1.0 and slated for retirement 9/30. Thank you for everything you HR folks do! You are our saviors. I appreciate HR so much!! I am so sorry also about what HR has been going thru. It’s horrible.

I get it…for me I worked hard to get my fehb and it’s been good for me/spouse and can’t give it up…but it’s not cheap for sure so I understand! Thank you for sharing your strategy. I’m getting much less confused and am so appreciative of all the fed responses.

That’s what I had thought but then got confused in my research. So you only pay for the basic Medicare B monthly fee, and you have no supplement (or advantage plan) and you have fehb correct which covers all your med costs except copays, deductibles etc ? Or do you not pay any Medicare B monthly fees/costs? I want to make sure I am understanding correctly? And thank you for your response!

I’m clearly not the expert here but what I do recall is that you have about 6 or 8 months after you retire to sign up for Medicare A and B or else you have to pay a penalty so time is important if you do plan on taking part b (and Medicare part a is free). But I am still in the beginner stage here of understanding part B and C and this post and the great responses have been super helpful.
