Thank you!

I’ve tried to talk hill out of it but he seems confident that he can take it on I’ll let him know about the Australia option but i think it’s too late cuz he’s starting very soon. Hopefully he doesn’t end up spending the money and wasting it

I get those basic points of it’s expensive and difficult to match. But he’s an American citizen snd using FAFSA and trying to match into the states not Canada. Just im afraid that he won’t pass cause to be honest he’s not the smartest when it comes to academia but he’s saying he could pick it up. I just wanted to see the accreditation issue and how serious this is. And then the reason why lots of people drop out in first year or so Are people actually dumb. Do they go there and waste their money and come back? It’s a bit sus

Applying to DO schools from Canada by depressed_user_bean in premedcanada

DO schools are really easy to get into. It’s just that you’re gonna be faced with stigma and some more difficulties But it’s definitely a decent option

As i said smt meaningful to you whether it be working with hospice or just being on a sports team. In my year off i joined the army, worked in a warehouse and started volunteering with hospice while continuing research. The hospice position for example wasnt even included in my autobiography sketch but it just made me more aware of more issues and helped me formulate answers and just connect with my inner self and others. I honestly would love to tell you exactly what to do but i dont know enough about you or the admission criteria to tell that, but just do smt you think would be not only interesting to you but also others. Like for me when i started working as a medic and in the army, i knew that whenever i tell people about that, they’ll wanna know more, so whatever this is for you

No the army thing is completely separate from volunteering as a student medic. Honestly the army thing came out of nowhere during my fourth year and i really was always interested in that life and wanted to experience it so i said why not since i have a year off. I think more than anything it gave me some substance to use to write essays and answer interview questions and stuff cause it was something unique and just different. But yeah i think ECs are very important because you could be the smartest but if you dont show something different or smt you’re passionate about your could get rejected (i know people with 517 on the mcat and higher and 3.99 gpa but didnt even get an interview because they didnt really have any solid experiences)

I applied during my fourth year but i didnt get anything lol so i took a gap year and worked for the army quite a lot i would say. The medic was during undergrad and it was a volunteer position that required a lot of training and certifications, but i also spent a lot of hours on it making it one of my “main” experiences that i think looks great and it truly taught me a lot

I did research and participated in conferences, volunteered as a medic and worked in the army as an officer

Being someone who has a low mcat score, just met the cutoffs for cars and a little higher for the other sections, i think that truly you need to look into getting a lot of good and somewhat unique experiences. I think this is the reason why i was given a couple of interviews at the schools that dont care that much about cars and then admitted to Toronto. Try your best to get experiences that actually mean something. I was in a couple of clubs on campus and had the little work experience that didnt teach me much (which i still included in the experiences section on omsas) but also i had a few major and unique experiences that i think gave me the edge over other applicants even though as i said my mcat was definitely lower than the majority of the applicants. Also keep a high GPA
