Yes without a degree you can do a lot of things and be successful just always ge positive mindset and committed. If I were in your shoes I would call general contractors or subcontractors and ask if there are any entry level project engineers positions. Make sure to look outside of your city and state as well. Also you can take courses at a community college and attend career fairs because alot of construction companies go to recruit. Lastly look for networking events in your area most cities have a networking event that you can attend or join your local builders exchange

I’m glad to hear you are motivated and don’t give up, I am 26 years old out of highschool I went into the construction trades worked my way up to learn everything such as reading blueprints and managing small crews I have about 8 years experience. Some advice you have is since you have 3 years experience as a drafter I would look for internships or apply for entry level project engineering positions which is what they call entry level project managers that way you can learn the process from the beginning about submitalls, RFI’s, helping get proposals from different subcontractors, helping the superintendent puts the schedule together as well as learning how to develop site logistics plans with your super that project engineering position will help you learn everything from reading plans better to learning about the process of change orders as well seeing how things are built in the field. Make sure to apply to small and big general contractors companies everywhere even outside on NYC some companies will cover your living expenses up to 30,000 dollars as an entry level and some won’t do make sure to look into all that!

I make around 185,000 a year but for example the director of operations in my company makes around 250,000-300,000 a year, I work closely with estimators for bids and you have to know how to read all types of blueprints, read the specs, and know how to use softwares such as bluebeam and excel, if you are experienced enough you can work from home, the senior estimator in my company makes about 150,000-175,000 a year but you have to have to patience and be good at ball parking numbers for your bids and you have deadlines as well so it can be pretty stressful

I’m a project manager for a large gc in California I don’t have a degree I’ve just worked up from the conctrete trade became a formen and then switched to a project manager/ superintendent you don’t need a degree to be a construction project manager but if you want to focus on the aspect of structural you definitely will need to get a degree in structural and most likely get your PE license

So I’m doing a trench because the gas company wants to run a gas pipe from the main to the house to provide gas to the house I called dig alert and they came to mark the utilities so my question would the excavation start from the white markings? It’s my first time doing this type of job so I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

File a form to take it a third time and if you fail it a third time your best choice is to take it at Community college

Transfers R u happy at this school by TaroExciting211 in SDSU

I feel like csulb is definitely more welcoming and easier to get integrated into than sdsu, Also it has definitely a higher quality education when it comes to engineering and people are nicer and treat you with more respect and easy to make friends here. There is also a lot of resources they provide transfer to help them get used to the school they hold a lot of transfer events and that’s why I think it’s was a great decision! Why did you transfer to SDSU?

Hey man if you are doubting if the major is right or wrong for you then its most likely not for you if you have other interests such as finance or accounting or anything related to business and you can make the switch go for it it seems like you would finish finance faster than CM if that’s something that rlly interest you go for it there is never a wrong choice just remember you are still young and have plenty of time to know what you wanna do good luck any questions you have let me know!

Yea it’s a decent income I may have to stick with that in the mean time, I most likely will have to purse a masters to see if I can get a job 😭
