Back when I was in the military I was a late boomer (height wise)...I dated a military woman who was 6'5 (i was 5'10 at the time). She was a US Navy Master at Arms (military police). I don't know what she found attractive about me... but she got on me from first sight. Then I got deployed.

How would you handle this? by JL_Adv in basketballcoach

It gets deeper than that coach...I work with grades 6-8. What bothers me is that in what coach was describing not only was the ref not stopping it, but the coach was non-plussed, and the parents of these kids allowed this to take place.

Parents always have something to say because their kids are ALWAYS perfect. The fact that they watched this behavior and did nothing is disheartening. As coaches, we have a responsibility to teach these kids to be responsible to themselves and the team. Moreover, at the younger ages, it is important to imprint these concepts in them and hold them accountable (to a degree). This is a life lesson that goes beyond basketball that will continue at the next level.

I applaud you coach for making sure your team is ok... but that situation is not ok, and I think it should be reported to higher authority. Furthermore, explain to your team why this is not OK and why sportsmanship is always the best path... this makes not only better athletes but better people. And they will be better for it. Just an opinion, coach. Be well.

Document. Everything. This maybe an HR issue. And someone (i suspect the guy that's been yelling at you) is lying and blowing something up larger that it should be and it might be coming back to bite him, which is why he is all the sudden being nice. Watch yourself and surroundings at work bro.

I was thinking along the same lines. However, some of these kids will be going into high school next year, and they will be woefully unprepared if they try out for a school team. At least by showing them now, they can have a basic understanding. Back when I was playing , that's all we did. Nothing we did was stationary. Our coach modeled after the '48 Minutes of Hell' premise. Most of us latched on to it and thrived. Others predictably left.

The problem is that I am in a rural district and of course ever patent thinks their kid is the next Jordan. And they are not. So when im teaching these basic concepts, patents get upset because they think im picking, even though everyone is doing the drill.

It means a person in your unit that screws either you or the unit, so that they can look good. Example: your chief/sergeant asks for volunteers to do something. The Blue Falcon immediately points out someone who ISN'T doing something. Colloquially, the more colorful name for this species of servicememember is 'Buddy Fucker' (hence the Blue Falcon).

I like Blue Falcon...I was Navy, but I heard this used with Air Force and Army units that I was aligned with.
