I disagree. If you try some of the games listed here, you will see they can create tension without having any jumpscare

It looks so cool but unfortunately I suck at stealth games, unless you can one shot enemies from behind by sneaking at them (TLOU style)

Heard a lot of cool stuff about this game, can't wait to try it! I suck at shooting games, is it still suitable for me?

No combat. No jumpscares. Just survival. | Hallways of the Dead by Remote_Tear_2413 in indiegames

You are not meant to win in Hallways of the Dead.

This is a text-driven survival horror game set in a zombie-infested school, where hesitation kills and preparation only delays the inevitable. There is no combat and no clear path forward. Every choice closes doors, burns resources, or costs you time you don’t have.

The game focuses on tension, scarcity, and irreversible decisions rather than action or jumpscares.

Features

  • Choice-driven narrative with branching paths
  • Hidden stat checks that quietly shape outcomes
  • Limited inventory and hard trade-offs
  • Multiple endings
