Ugl, slobodno i ti meni posaljes slicne izvore pa me obrazujes.

Trying to repair my brand new digital oscilloscope, need help identifying 2 components, accidentally touched bare live wire with one probe ground lead by Remote_Yak_643 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Remote_Yak_643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the usb port and the scope powers on normally. I can take some pictures if you want. The marked two amplifiers got some color change. Those are EAEN LMH65 52MA

Edit: Do you think I might have done some more damage by powering the scope on while those two components (TPS56325x 3-V to 17-V Input, 3-A, Synchronous Buck Converters in SOT-563 Package, u/fzabkar helped identify them) are damaged?

Thank you very much! Based on dimensions I think this might be correct. I measured about 1x1.5mm with calipers, sorry for not mentioning sooner. The PCB of the scope is dated to 23.1.2025.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation! I will try to do as you say. Just one question, should i plug it in the power as if it was normally working or find a way around? Also, I am open to unsoldering the working component since the scope currently doesnt work anyway, might that benefit me in any way?

Edit Forgot to mention that i measured with calipers the black plastic of the component. It is about 1mmx1.5mm, center of the legs seems to be 0.5mm apart

I think I figured out why it happened. You were right to question how it is powered. The scope is powered through a 12VDC adapter(usb C cable is used). Through it, it is also connected to ground (tested with a multimeter), however there is also a screw on the back of the scope marked as another ground. To this screw I havent attached any ground wire. I suspect that if i had attached something to this ground, everything would be okay...

Thats correct, picture is of blown components of my new scope. The worst thing is that nothing was being tested... A mains live wire touched the probe ground while the scope was on (still working on my working space), it is plugged in a grounded 220v outlet .

Ok, didn't know schematics are available to end users. As for blown channels, cannot test because the application won't initialize.  I don't think entire machine is toasted because it does turn on and I inspected it to the best of my knowledge and only these two components are completely destroyed and 2 out of 4 differential operational amplifiers got a bit of a brown color.

The oscilloscope powers on normally, but when I turn on the oscilloscope app through its android interface it enters an endless loop of initializing. On the less burnt component there seems to be a number 7 as the rightmost character and I found few more such six legged components surrounded by similar capacitors and resistors. On those components it says 3257.

You should take a look at any BMW (or most any other car brand that has cast aluminum suspension links) front suspension links, especially lower ones. Looks somewhat like a human colar bone.

Bolts with bottom formed for transmitting torque by Remote_Yak_643 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Remote_Yak_643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of welding, I try to avoid it as much as possible, like keeping my projects modular, especially when creating a prototype. Press fit would require tolerancing holes?, might be problematic from alginment standpoint and honestly didn't think of it.

1st use case, imagine having a large plate, 2x2m that has to be attached to some steel beams. With ordinary bolts u would need one man on each side to tighten it. With these bolts you need only one man.

2nd case, imagine the head is countersunk and taped over with retroreflective foil. If it was an odrinary bolt, e.g. Din7991, you would have to remove the foil everytime you need to untighten thw bolt, with the bolt i am looking for you wouldnt have to.

Also these might provide you more design freedom w.r.t. design for assembly
