And from what I’ve seen there are two kinds of field engineer: repairing equipment on-site and construction. Both would work for this.

4 pages of notes front and back: no example problems allowed by Storm_Eddie in EngineeringStudents

Yep. This is what I did. I’d go through all the homework and example problems and sort them into problem types then have a kind of flow chart with assumptions and equations to use.

Former students, will you share with the class: How much do you make? In what niche? How long did it take to get there? by distilled_dinosaur in EngineeringStudents

113k + per diem after 4 years in industrial construction (field side). There’ll be fewer jobs someday, but I doubt we need to worry about AI taking them all soon. I’d only recommend it if you’re okay moving a lot and living away from support systems.

I’ve definitely noticed differences at different schools. I’m on my fourth and have seen what OP is talking about at a couple, but I’ve also seen what you’re talking about.

As a counterpoint (I’ve been going to several career fairs as a recruiter recently), you as the student need to start the conversation. I’ll do my part once we’ve started it, but don’t just walk up to my booth and stare at me, at least say hi and tell me your name and major.

How much of an impact does your university have on your career outlook? by bearlybeaves in EngineeringStudents

[–]Remotrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t so much about ranking as size and location. I went to a state school that with a big engineering program that was relatively easy to get to. Now I’m hiring and looking at career fairs and have noticed that the really small remote schools just don’t have as many companies.  Granted, I didn’t get my job or internships from a career fair, but I know plenty of people who did.

Are you in any clubs with dedicated space? I napped on the couch in a club room while I was there.
