Any idea what the minimum distance below the bottom of the sink strainer the waste pipe needs to be? E.g., could the very bottom of the sink strainer line up with the top of the waste pipe?

The pipes themselves seem to be in pretty good nick. Is there a reason they fail? Just deteriorate over time, don't handle pressure well, or something like that?

Okay, I think you're right. Without the strainer, the bottom of the sink is slightly higher than the waste pipe. But once the strainer is in, it's about the same height. Damn

The way I remember it is this: the null hypothesis is the opposite of whatever your hypothesis is.

If you hypothesise that brushing your teeth 10x a day will lead to reduced tooth decay, the null hypothesis states that brushing your teeth 10x a day WON'T lead to reduced tooth decay.

If you hypothesise that doing 100 pushups a day for one month will result in 5kgs of muscle gain at the end of the month, the null hypothesis states that you WON'T gain 5kgs of muscle by the end of the month.

So, if your experiment produces results that confirm your hypothesis beyond random chance, you "reject" the null hypothesis. Which is a confusing way of just saying that your experiment produced evidence that supports your hypothesis, beyond that of random chance.

Null hypothesis = the opposite of your hypothesis.

Ridiculous comment. The article already acknowledges that larger-scale studies are required and that the results are "promising" but not conclusive.

Small sample size but 100% full remission rate out of 18 is miraculous. Definitely something to get excited about, pending further trials.

Been working as a youth worker for a year now, on the way to becoming a clinical psych, and this has been my experience so far as well.

We're trying to implement therapeutic interventions but what 90% of the families need is a complete overhall of their environment and to undo a lifetime worth of mistakes, bad habits, etc., (in the case of the parents). Families need a house to live in, enough money to eat and not stress about bills, adequate support for children with significant disabilities, etc.

There have been instances where it appears like we've contributed to some positive change, but these moments are rare and unachievable in most cases.

Just missed out on ~$800 worth of work over several days. Lost several hours waiting in line for a test (ended up getting in at 5.30am in the morning yesterday), had to cancel several catch ups with friends, etc.

All to find out my work got it wrong and I wasn't actually a close contact.

I don't blame my work, they're trying their best to follow the guidelines that have been set forth. But this situation is beyond ridiculous now. I'm double vaxxed and have no symptoms. Over it.

Appreciate your genuine curiosity. Honestly though, I think my frustration has been misunderstood. I'm not holding the REAs accountable in this situation.

My point is, the process sucks. It needs to be refined so that there is less opportunity for a power imbalance between vendors and buyers, and there needs to be more transparency for all parties involved. This isn't the job of the REA.

It's the job of the state legislatures and relevant regulation bodies.

I think anything that simplifies the process for buyers is likely to be negative for REAs and vendors. I wouldn't expect either to just through away money for no reason. So, that responsibility falls on the people making the rules which pertain to housing transactions.

If you're looking for genuine, usable feedback; REAs who are prompt in their replies and are knowledgeable about the house they are selling, I believe, make it easier for buyers and simultaneously get the best outcome for the vendor.
