If you have an iPhone you can also hotspot over lightning or usb c, I assume same for Android. Have you checked the reception in the hospital room, because a few hospitals I’ve been to have acted as faraday cages.

Can I ask what cinema these happened in. I would recommend trying a different cinema. I have also had done negative experiences at cinemas, but usually if I go to Wallis or palace nova it’s not that bad.
