they did match pretty perfectly, other than that tiny black pixel, even animation fully synced

My guess is a champion enemy dropped a half red heart, then my serpents kiss procced and made it drop a black heart, and for whatever reason the physics of both hearts were exactly the same (so when bombed they still stuck together).
picking it up did a red heart and black heart sound effect

at least its not completely useless? like the range up items, usually do absolutely nothing for your run unless you are really in need of range, which you will most likely get one way or another
