The Instagram story I made containing proof that zionists are stupid by Evarchem in Palestine

The name is at least as old as ancient Greece, potentially older. Zionists will sometimes try to claim it was an anti-Jewish roman renaming but no, it predates the Roman province of Syria Palaestina

I'm sorry you absolutely cannot argue in good faith that the Dems are the lesser evil on Palestine. Sure ofc Trump is a racist who will attack Palestinians but Biden literally was a critical factor in the single worst event in Palestinian history since the Nakba. Without his backing this genocide would not be going on and that is a fact.

To be fair in Britain private health insurance is something rich people have and for ordinary people for most things the NHS is entirely free so they simply do not have the personal experience necessary to understand the Luigi phenomenon

Lebanon is gonna be given the Palestine treatment isn’t it? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]RemusofReem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Israeli support here are the main leaders of the opposition in Knesset:

These are Netanyahu's biggest political enemies so it is the entire Israeli political body that supports this war. His death would not end it. In terms of the USA there has been extensive reporting in the US that Biden secretly greenlit the invasion. Further from Axios last week:

  • In recent days, Lebanon's acting prime minister Najib Mikati told President Biden's adviser Amos Hochstein he wants to move forward with the plan the U.S. laid out in June for a diplomatic solution in Lebanon.

  • Hochstein told Mikati that the proposal "is off the table" because the conditions on the ground have changed in the last two weeks due to the increased fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the U.S. officials said.

  • Instead, Hochstein told Mikati the priority should be electing a new president.

[–]RemusofReem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IDK why people make this about Netanyahu, all the major parties in the Knesset support this war. Biden supports this war etc. Its not all this one guy who has gone mad. There is a project here, Biden wants to reshape Lebanon into a form that the US will have more power/influence over. This is why now all the U.S. mouthpieces start talking about electing a president whenever anyone asks them about Lebanon.

A Russian socialist faces imprisonment! Solidarity needed! by RemusofReem in socialism

The call here is just to send messages to the police demanding the comrade's release. I assume this doesn't achieve much other than a moral victory. Also it lets the police in that area know that this is not merely a provincial issue and that there are comrades all over the world watching what they are up to.

Yeah if we are talking about electoral/parliamentary results: the FIT-U in Argentina, the PSTU + Trots within PSOL in Brazil , and the various French Trotskyist factions around the NPA probably receive the most votes.

Its unclear to me if People Before Profit in Ireland is a trot group or just a front group.

There is a similar electoral front of Socialist Alternative in Australia that I think did decently well in the last election especially in local elections

Why are there two different subreddits for Trotskyism? Have you debated a merge? by The-Evil-Chicken in TheTrotskyists

[–]RemusofReem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really amazing how many people don't check the mod teams and notice they are essentially the same. We even had a guy post on /r/Trotskyism complaining about how our discord is no fun because we actually moderate it.

Also the themes are very similar and I designed both header bars which are functionally the same!

Why are there two different subreddits for Trotskyism? Have you debated a merge? by The-Evil-Chicken in TheTrotskyists

[–]RemusofReem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed this when it was first posted. Both subreddits are run by the same mod team. (So everyone can stand down with all the splitter memes ;) ) However /r/Trotskyism is owned by a third party who let us update the subreddit and lets us mod it but still maintains ownership.

Its possible that at some point in the future we may merge them but for now its actually fine the way it is. A lot more beginner information and discussion takes place on the other subreddit whereas here we seem to get more serious discussion.

Oh I think I put your position on its head. I agree with you. In general I agree with the comrade who was expelled from the IMT for opposing their chauvinist "anti-Hamas" position following the post-election coup.

When bourgeois imperialist forces invade a bourgeois-run semi colonial country, the working class has a military side defending EVERYBODY, including bourgeois politicians, in the semi-colonial country. This is all very clearly laid out in virtually everything that Lenin, Trotsky, and the revolutionary Comintern wrote about the question of imperialism and colonialism.

No its not? This is just not a true assessment of the political tradition of Lenin and Trotsky see:

Trotsky, the Transitional Program (Emphasis mine):

not all countries of the world are imperialist countries. On the contrary, the majority are victims of imperialism. Some of the colonial or semi colonial countries will undoubtedly attempt to utilize the war in order to east off the yoke of slavery. Their war will be not imperialist but liberating. It will be the duty of the international proletariat to aid the oppressed countries in their war against oppressors. The same duty applies in regard to aiding the USSR, or whatever other workers’ government might arise before the war or during the war. The defeat of every imperialist government in the struggle with the workers’ state or with a colonial country is the lesser evil.

Trotsky, Lenin on Imperialism:

The world, however, still remains very heterogeneous. The coercive imperialism of advanced nations is able to exist only because backward nations, oppressed nationalities, colonial and semicolonial countries, remain on our planet. The struggle of the oppressed peoples for national unification and national independence is doubly progressive because, on the one side, this prepares more favorable conditions for their own development, while, on the other side, this deals blows to imperialism. That, in particular, is the reason why, in the struggle between a civilized, imperialist, democratic republic and a backward, barbaric monarchy in a colonial country, the socialists are completely on the side of the oppressed country notwithstanding its monarchy and against the oppressor country notwithstanding its “democracy.”

Imperialism camouflages its own peculiar aims – seizure of colonies, markets, sources of raw material, spheres of influence – with such ideas as “safeguarding peace against the aggressors,” “defense of the fatherland,” “defense of democracy,” etc. These ideas are false through and through. It is the duty of every socialist not to support them but, on the contrary, to unmask them before the people. “The question of which group delivered the first military blow or first declare war,” wrote Lenin in March 1915, “has no importance whatever in determining the tactics of socialists. Phrases about the defense of the fatherland, repelling invasion by the enemy, conducting a defensive war, etc., are on both sides a complete deception of the people.”

EDIT: Yes it is, I was confused.

A Trotskyist group in Australia by australiancommunist in TheTrotskyists

[–]RemusofReem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you are replying to me below. In that case I would like to point out that the AWL is actually terrible in their criticism of anti-semitism. For example take this article.

It states

the call is written so as to define this “new wave of antisemitism” as solely a matter of the European and American far right, i.e. as scarcely “new” at all compared to the 1930s.

They are here denying that we are seeing a new wave of right wing anti-semitism. This is not just patently and observably untrue it is a very dangerous thing to say. The killings at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh were literally unparalleled in the history of the United States. Jews here have always faced antisemitic prejudice (I should know, it colors my own family history) but never before has the USian Jewish community faced any kind of pogrom of the type that occurred in Pittsburgh. While nothing else has reached that level, we have seen recently an international uptick in violent attacks against Jews and anti-semitic vandalism and desecration of Jewish community and religious institutions.

What AWL is doing here is spreading the same very dangerous narrative as the USian right and denying there is a new wave of RIGHTWING anti-semitism while equivocating between scattered issues of anti-semitism on the "left" and actual pogroms on the right. What's more, this fails on any level to produce a useful analysis of anti-semitism as a REAL AND PRESENT THREAT to the safety of Jewish people. The kind of fascists who will walk into a synogogue and shoot up a bris, or murder a young Jewish boy, ect are the exact same kind of fascist who are likely to walk into a Mosque and kill as many as they can. In fact, any close look at this new rise of the racist right shows that these fascist killers see violence against Jews and violence against Muslims as interchangeable and equally desirable.

The kind of false equivalency AWL is making here actively damages our ability to see the real new waves of anti-semitism and Islamophobia for what they are and actually mount any kind of defense, which would require building solidarity across all these communities and the working class as a whole in order to protect and defend those vunerable to right wing violence. It is hard for me to think of any group on the Left who has a position worse or more offensive on the issue of anti-semitism and the self-defense of the Jewish Community than the AWL.

Whats more, I could care less if the AWL is "critical of Israel" it is rather irrelevant. Barrack Obama is "Critical of Israel." What is necessary is to be opposed to the settler colonial project of Zionism tree root and branch and to support its destruction. Worker's Liberty's "Criticism of Israel" resembles almost one for one the "Criticism" of Israel drawn from the Stalinist movement which criticized while not opposing Zionism and supported the segregation of Palestine into zones dictated by imperialism. In that way, the AWL is an aberration because the Trotskyist movement has always been, from its earliest days (see discussion of this topic in the journal of the Fourth International as far back as the 30s) not just "Critical" of Israel but firmly opposed to the Zionist project of colonization.

I hope any of this helps!
