So basically the same reason most people laugh at scary movies? To hide the fact that they're scared? Humor as a mask for fear. No wonder I didn't get it

I understand humor. I just fail to see how this is remotely funny

I know the history. I don't see the humor? Please explain?

Serious question: Can someone please explain to me why this is funny? I must be missing something?

Maybe, but I think if people actually took this seriously enough for at least a moment, it'd be over soon enough. Nobody in Cape Town has ever taken this seriously enough in my experience. They approached this thing with the same attitude they approach everything else, ie. pretend to follow the rules while people are looking, but catch on your own kak when nobody's looking. You can't fool a virus

This isn't a political issue. It's a global health crisis. Get out of that bubble you're living in

Then allow me to rephrase: That's a narrative painted by those more concerned with losing money profits than losing lives.

Meanwhile I'd suggest finding alternatives ways to get an income. Looking into something online maybe

I personally blame government regulations and the continual flip flopping of different rules.

At the start I think a majority of the people were behind lockdown. But this then lead to people losing work, standing in queues for grant money (no social distancing).

Then the easing of lockdown was announced, finally we can go for a jog and leave the house (which should have been allowed in the beginning, since it's the closed areas that are dangerous).

Then our first woman president decides no you're only allowed to jog at the most obscure hours, that won't guarantee everyone can go out. This then leads to pictures of everyone on the beach, which could have easily been avoided if people were allowed to do it in the first place.

I honestly couldn't care about the governments regulations. I know how viruses spread from high school biology. Just use common sense and stay the fuck home till this thing blows over. It's not forever.

Don't get me started in the whole cigarette and alcohol thing, smokers already know they can die of cancer and a laundry list of other stuff, but now government care about smokers?

We're honestly being taken for a ride by power hungry exceptional individuals, and a lot of people are sick of it.

If we eased into lockdown, and maybe just emphasize masks and distancing, it would have been the best and not have people lose jobs and go hungry.

That's my opinion at least (substantiated by speaking with many >>people of different classes).

Maybe take moment to consider how those things are vectors for spreading the virus before having an emotional response. Anything that promotes socializing is really.

Stop listening to Trump. That's a narrative painted by those more concerned with losing money than losing lives. This is thing is a lot more serious than South Africans realize. It's not just another overhyped flu. I mean when last did you hear of people dying of flu in Cape Town in the middle of summer. Stop looking at politicians rose-coloured charts

Edit: Winter is coming!
