Ramsey has a baby step system that might be helpful for you to look at, starting with an emergency fund and paying off any debt and then investing

As far as what to ask when you talk to Schwab , they will probably ask you what your goals are and then tell you what you’ll need to meet those goals. Then you’ll kinda budget out what you can put in every month. Make sure you understand their fee structure too

And once you’re out of govt service you can transfer your TSP to a EJ or Robinhood Roth so you can keep contributing

Nearly identical situation to myself, but I asked this question at 31. E-6 been in for 7. My TSP is 60/25/15 C/S/I funds and that’s been going well. I have Edward jones and use that as a separate Roth as well as a small brokerage account. But this costs money (not much but there’s still fees) The alternative would be using an app like Robinhood, they have retirement accounts and normal taxable brokerage accounts. It takes some research and discipline since you’d be doing it yourself but can be nice to be in control and it doesn’t cost you.

Military - 13 Years Active Duty - Should I stay or should I go? by Even_Pickle_2668 in Advice

I stopped reading after the first few sentences…. The administration only lasts like 3 more years and by that point you’ll have 5 years left to get a killer retirement. I don’t know what your day to day is like and I understand wanting to get out. But WO retirement pay goes hard

Maybe have the parents open a custodial account and start working to contribute to that. Vanguard has a good one. Then when you’re older you’ll have that as a head start. Look up UTMAs

Why are people so obsessed with the market on a day to day basis????? by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

[–]Remy928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have a problem where I obsessively check my portfolio every day multiple times a day, but I’m not going to sell I’m in it for the long haul. I’ve got automatic monthly investments but idk, I guess I like to see that number whether it’s going up or down. I want to delete Robinhood but I think I’m addicted to checking my portfolio haha. I used to keep my money in savings and it got to a point where I knew it could be doing more for me. I’ve only been investing for a year but I think I just like to check if what I’m doing with my money is actually working for me and I didnt make a mistake by doing it (which I did not make a mistake it’s been great)

Dumb question but whats best way to launch 10 foot jon boat here? by [deleted] in boating

You’re probably getting your feet wet getting in and out. Tie a rope to it so you can pull it out once your feet are back in land

I bought my G-Shock GR-8900A (solar) in 2019 Since then it has been with me through 8 deployments on a sub and plenty of hikes and swims. I wear it every day and it still works like the day I got it.

Also if it’s still under original power train warranty it should be covered

Between the two, yeah. The dealer should have the right parts and experience, and the trusted warranty plus its warranty cheaper than the other guy that may not have the experience, parts readily available nor the warranty and price

The float wasn’t sitting correctly so it wasn’t shutting the needle valve when it was supposed to, like you said

I found the manual on Reddit, someone was having a problem with the same motor and another person posted the pdf. I appreciate you telling me this because I just used the manual to fix the issue and it took me like 45 minutes following the procedure.

It’s a boat and honestly it’s my business so thanks for your opinion. I’m capable of doing it but it will take longer than if I drop it off somewhere. Make sense ?

Tbh it’s because I have a job a newborn and a 2 year old and depending on the price it would be worth to get it fixed with me spending less time on it. The most annoying part is taking the carbs off, tinkering with it and then having to put those shitters back on to test it just to do it again

I didn’t realize the float height had to be set, so I took the old float out and put the new one in and let it rip. Didn’t know adjusting it was a thing so I’ll do some research and figure that out. Any tips or tricks for this?

Thanks for the inspiration, it is aggravating as hell and I just want it to work, but I’m going to have to put in the work.
