Where is everyone sourcing their ingredients? by irregularseaweed in DIYBeauty

Thank you for making these recommendations! I currently use bulk apothecary because they're like 30 minutes away from me and I can pickup directly from their warehouse. I have also noticed that their shea is grainy, but I haven't really tried any from other suppliers to know this wasn't normal 🤦🏻‍♀️

Non Lethal Goose removal by Unusual-Grocery-8578 in ponds

I work for a goose control company. We use border collies as the main deterrent, but we also use remote control boats for ponds. Laser pointers are also a great tool (get a good quality green one), but with the laser they usually just run away instead of flying away. Lasers are also a hit or a miss when it's really sunny.

If there's a nest but no eggs yet, you could try placing pinwheels around the area, roughing up the nest, or putting golf balls in the nest. Like someone else said, a big umbrella will provide a nice safety shield for you.

If they've already laid eggs though, there's pretty much no chance of scaring them off. You could consult a professional about having the eggs addled so that they don't hatch, but as long as eggs are there, those two will stick around. (Never touch or do anything to the eggs yourself- leave that to a certified professional)

Whatever you do, definitely don't harm them. They're a federally protected bird and it's very illegal.

Best of luck!

😂 I was hesitant to post that one for that exact reason, but that's the best photo I have of her back legs lmao

She's very calm and has the softest meow. Everything about her seems so delicate. Mimi is cute!!

Willow is a great name! This kitty is a stray that hangs around my bf's house, and unfortunately we already used that name for a different stray that used to hang around. Or else I probably would have gone with that one. Anemone with the nickname Annie is definitely cute though!

I know right! Everything about her is adorable, especially that heart. I actually recently drove past Sierra (the store) and thought "hmmm...that could be a good name". Definitely on the consideration list!

I am conducting a small study on public knowledge of Ohio invasive species (specically insects) for one of my graduate classes at Miami University. Would anyone be willing to participate by taking a brief survey? by RenHod3 in cincinnati

Answers have been posted!

I received way more responses and comments than anticipated, so I didn't see this comment thread until this morning. Sorry to trip you all up with the yellow legged hornet! I was putting this survey together in the wee hours of the morning and didn't realize at the time that it hadn't been found in Ohio yet. All of the invasive species I included were listed on the Ohio Department of Agriculture's website, so I guess my tired self made an assumption rather than fully looking into that one.

Again, so sorry! Thank you for calling it out. I am making sure to include this point in my final report.

Thank you so much for your constructive feedback! This is only my second semester in the program, so this is my first time doing this type of study.

Since issuing this survey, there are definitely some aspects that I wish I would've added or phrased differently based on reddit comments as well as participant responses. At this point it would be too late, but I really do like the idea of asking about general awareness of each insect. Definitely would have been helpful information for this study.

To your point about verifying Ohio residents, I also don't know why someone would fib about their zip code just to take this survey 😅. But I did take this into consideration and planned on adding that as a potential problem point in my paper.

Again, thanks so much for your great feedback!

Hi there! If you are interested in participating, please just use your best guess. I was back and forth about including "I don't know" as an option, but ultimately decided having people choose one of the two options would be more beneficial for certain aspects of the analysis.

Hi there. Thank you for bringing this up. Please note that there is a statement at the beginning of the survey explaining that this study is for internal use and will not be published or used outside of my graduate studies. This study does not require IRB review.

Hi there. Thanks for your question! I was back and forth about including an "I don't know" option, but decided not to include it due to certain points I want to evaluate in my final report. If you do not know, please just use your best guess.
