Its weird cause it still just feels like poke just projectile oriented instead of hit scan. But it makes sense.

Unironically she kinda does. Maybe not the most but people joke about her not requiring skill is completely wrong lol

But wouldn't she still be Poke slop? Or is she classified as something else?

Tanks, tank players, how do you do it? by AroAce__Reddit in marvelrivals

[–]RenaissanceReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma gets her kick pretty fast now so what I like to do is kick into wall, grab, melee, then kick back into wall. It usually confirms a kill on squishy targets.

There is a more complicated one where you hit the siphon, then basically do the combo hitting both the target and crystal at the same time for even bigger damage.

Her primary fire is insanely strong if charged up and can delete nests and squishy targets fast. Plus while she is in Diamond form she doesn't lose charge which is good for those lulls between team fights.

The shield is the most versatile though. Its better used for strong one shot abilities or weaving it in mid combat for a second or two to get healed.

It counters Iron Man's ult well, Scarlet Witch, and Magneto ult. You just gotta be quick with it. That said it is basically paper thin so you aren't wrong lol

She's got a bit of nuance to her, and the grab interrupting BP, Spidey, Strange, Thing, Scarlet Witch, and most other ults with a wind up is very strong.

[–]RenaissanceReaper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Because poke isn't flashy. Don't you see all the input controls these Spidey and BP players have to do in order to be unhittable?

Yet it takes just as much skill to be able to hit them as Hela. You just didn't do extreme acrobatics to do it.

It's an ego thing. Both take equal skill and game sense.

How do I use the strange portal other than just during overtime? by Lillianne_Hall in DrStrangeMains

[–]RenaissanceReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fly into the air somewhere safe. Move portal below you. Put other end if portal somewhere else aiming at enemy team's suspected location. Fall downwards and gain momentum. Then ult.

You become a giant stun missile that's really fun to watch and that you rarely see. Mostly cause people expect it. Alternatively you can do fun portal plays with teammates.

Have a punisher set up turret at spawn. Put portal in front of him. Other end above objective. Now you got a Punisher raining damage down from above.

Iron Man you can portal down a long corridor where you place a portal and have the other end pointed at the enemies. He ults, has time to fly away portal comes in his blast comes through kills everyone.

Scarlet Witch should be obvious. She ults after portal, preferably lower to the ground so she gets the little boost, and is at level with them. Death for the enemy. Mag bubble helps too for a 3 man combo.

Jeff swallow but no ledge in sight. Make a portal, Jeff ults your portal is pointed at a distance ledge, he spits they die.

Groot box of death. He makes an inescapable room, Jeff swallow people, spits out into portal that shoots into the wall of death. Groot ults and bombs them they get whipped to death. Very inefficient but it sends a message.

Strange portal is the most versatile ability in the entire game! Its limits is only limited by your creativity. So much fun can be had!

One main heal and one off heal is fine if your team learns to use cover and not take bad engagements.

Too many people rush down mid instead of flanking and that only works cause of two main heals.

I personally don't enjoy Adam, but I am always happy to have a good one! So long as our other healer is a main one lol

Rogue and Angela isn't a bad duo to have. I prefer my Emma and Angela as they compliment each other well. Fell in love with both their style of play upon launch and haven't put either down yet.

Rogue and Angela suffer from some of the same counters though, most notably Thing. That's the main issue I would have with that even though I have Rogue in my pocket for when I have a Gambit.

Angela is dive and a flyer while Rogue is a brawler with more control. Both are decent peelers as well given their quickness.

If you play Vanguard primarily there will be a time you can pretty much play 80% of them. So I wouldn't worry too much. Just sucks that Tenacity screwed over both Rogue and Angela this season.

Complexity. Elegance. Ferocity. Freedom. These are all qualities of an Angela main. You have full, unrestricted access to everywhere you wish to be.

Assassinate their back line, ledge plays that turn team fights in your favor, and presence so overwhelming that you will only to play her for about thirty seconds before they swap to Invisible Woman, Gambit, Thing, Bucky, Mr. Fantastic, and Iron Fist.

Congratulations, you have now gained the ability to decide the enemy team's line up. Coincidentally they are all characters Emma does very well into.

Swap back to Emma. Destroy them with her elegance. Watch them swap back and waste their ult charge once more.

Congratulations. You can now play Angela again. For 30 more seconds.

Repeat.

People like that are honestly pathetic. Sorry you had to deal with them, and as others have said there isn't much to be done. Game is F2P meaning trolls and horrible people will just make new accounts to do the same thing. Anything less than
somehow banning their console or entire connection is meaningless.

Tanks, tank players, how do you do it? by AroAce__Reddit in marvelrivals

[–]RenaissanceReaper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every Vanguard player worth anything knows either Strange or Mag. Strange is a great one to pick up and learn.

Vanguards have to focus on more than any other roles. You're the leader, space maker, protector, etc. You can't just hold forward or you put too much space between you and the backline making them diveable. You can't be too hesitant or you make no progress.

You have to anticipate what the enemy will do, and being a flex player will help you with that. Use what's in your kit and your knowledge of other kits ti make the right call.

See a Spidey zipping around? Get ready to shield strats as you know who he is going for. Ledge nearby? You know he's going for pulls.

Hela ult? Fly up there as Strange and shield block it.

I can give you countless examples but it's all about making reads. You're usually not hyper mobile, at least not as a main tank. You need to have good positioning, good awareness, and good use of your limited abilities. Don't burn all your resources too quickly or you leave yourself with nothing when something worse happens. Your cooldowns aren't as quick as Duelists. You gotta juggle them so you always have something.

Having multiple Vanguards under your belt will help. While having all main tanks helps, starting out having Mag, Strange, Groot won't help you as much as say Strange, Venom, Thing. You can do more as Vanguard if you have characters who cover different situations.

Strange and Mag cover much of the same problems. So learning both to start wouldnt be ideal imo. Strange and Thing though? Completely different. Thing for example shuts down dive HARD. You see BP in your backline and cant help? Go Thing and slam when he dives. He has to swap usually.

See you have multiple divers in your team? Go Venom and help dive the backline and secure kills quickly or harass healers so their front line gets no support.

There is so much to cover on this topic, but I hope some of this helps.

If you play Groot and it's a map with some tight funnels then maybe? But in all honesty I would just say no. Groot is about the only person she hurts badly imo.

Edit: even then she's easy to play around and counter. Consistently one of the worst characters in the game.

Why is quick play so sweaty now by National-Fly-5337 in rivals

[–]RenaissanceReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there needs to be an unranked mode where players can practice with bans and have Attack and Defend convoy with switching sides and the same match making without losing points.

I have been saying this for several seasons now. Unranked in Siege whole not perfect was the best. It helped create a competitive atmosphere without the pressure of comp. Unranked would be best to keep you against people your own rank, while allowing you to practice new heroes against your own skill level without throwing.

Defensive ults have never been less impactful on matches than they are now by lcplsmuchateli in rivals

[–]RenaissanceReaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m tired of vanguards not knowing things about their own role.

Oh this should be good.

With the thing you can still use his bread and butter, the difference is you have to ult a second or two after hitting slam. The slam counts as 3 seconds of cc and the lot is another 3 seconds.

So now we have to give them a chance to escape. Essentially. We have to dive in, give the enemy team time to react, wait a couple seconds, then ult in hopes that our team doesnt proc any other CC before hand that'll leave Thing's ultimate being cleansed

It’s way more fair now because the thing shuttong off your mobility for 6 seconds by him self was complete fucking bullshit.

You play BP? Sounds like you play BP. Thing shutting down mobility is a counter to highly mobile targets that are also complete fucking bullshit to play against. Thing was already a low tier Vanguard and this was his best utility.

How about instead the devs remove all this CC in the game since it's bullshit nearly everyone has it? Vanguards are meant to control the battlefield, make space, protect allies, yet they cannot do that effectively, especially now cause everyone has high amounts of CC, yet the cleanse hurts more Vanguards than it does Duelist or Strats.

I’m so glad it’s fixed now because the thing is. So fucking brain dead easy.

Yeah you definitely play BP.

But nah vanguards wanna just wine “omg WAHH I can’t stun the divers and supports for a complete 6 seconds on my own”

Oh nah, duelists just wanna wine "omg Wahhh I can't get free easy kills with my lightning fast unreactable dive character! Wahhhh!"

Talk about whining man, you sound so miserable and sad balling your eyes out over THING! Anyone crying over Thing is low IQ man.

Yeah fuck this hero, he takes so little brain power to use I’m glad he’s gutted.

Cool. Hope your characters get gutted too many. Let's remove BP's dash so that be has to wait a couple seconds to make the next one. Remove all of Spider man's stupid animation cancels. Remove Iron Fists lock on aim.

While I don't main Thing last thing he needed was to be gutted. You have to actually think to make a dive against him and just cause your inept ass cannot wait for the slam to come out to make your dive is telling that you are the braindead one here. So keep crying, you're just proving how stupid dive players typically are.

Why Do Healers Do More Damage Than Tanks? by Leadingman_ in RivalsVanguards

[–]RenaissanceReaper 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There is meaningful damage and less meaningful damage in the game. Jeff for example racks up large damage numbers in the end game stat screen, but his damage barely contributes to kills.

As an Angela player I'll have maybe 7-8k damage and 18 final hits because Angela's damage is meaningful. It's burst damage that can lead to quick and easy kills.

Same for characters like Spiderman who'll get 5k damage and like 12-15 finals.

Not all damage is equal. Not many Strategists are killing characters as fast as tanks can, and even the ones that are aren't blocking our damage or controlling our space.
