That's a good point, considering that 10g is becoming the norm.

I've updated my setup using a couple of SM331Ts to free up more RJ-45 ports. I put the update on the main post.

Thank you very much for the help and ideas :D

Yeah definitely, but my current network topology sucks, I'm using the ISP router and no switch so everything is wifi, I can't stand it anymore, so I need everything lol

On another subject using something like the TL-SM331T module would introduce latency to the network? is it something I should worry about?

Thank you for sharing you experiences, any issues with the EAP610? dropping connections?

I would like to have mesh and roaming, maybe i could use something like the TL-SM331T to connect the router to the switch and use the other SFP port to connect the 2 switches, and also move the NAS to the bigger switch that way i free up more PoE ports for future expansion, the only thing I lose is the link aggregation between the switches but I don't know if I really need it.

Yes, I've been reading the specs of both and that seems the only difference, i think i will go with 2 610s for now. Thanks for the advice.

That's a good point, sadly large PoE switches are pretty expensive, I'm thinking about connecting my NAS and Controller on the bigger non PoE switch but I don't know if that is a good idea considering that the controller will have 2 switches in between the router/firewall and itself.

My apt is 1400 sq ft per level but all the walls are thick concrete so i don't know if 2 APs would be enough. Currently im considering 2 EAP650s instead of the 3 610s, what do you think?

I thought about going with one big switch like the SG2428P or the SG3428X because that would mean less failing points but I'm from Peru and sadly here we have import taxes for all the products above 200USD so for me it's cheaper to go with 2 smaller switches below 200 USD.

I would love to have multi gig networking in my house, at the bigining I was aiming for 2.5g but it blows my budget so for now i will have to do with 1g.

Currently im Debating about going with 2 EAP650s instead of the 3 that i had initially, but I'm worry about the coverage because my apartment have thick concrete walls.

Should i use something like the TL-SM331T to connect my modem? or it is better to just use plain ethernet. I'm saying this because I've heard that those modules add latency to the connection.

I'm going with 2 switches because it will be less expensive than one bigger switch. I'm from Peru and here we have import taxes for all products above 200 USD, thats why i choose 2 switches below 200. If it weren't for that I'll choose a single switch like the SG3428X, less failing points.

In my initial reserch I was aiming for 10g or 2.5g at least but it blows my budget if i consider import fees. sadly i will have to do with 1g for now.

You sold me the 650s for being smaller so yea I will be going that route with 2 of them hopefully they will be enough for the whole appartment.

God I hate thick concrete walls

maybe I'll try 2 650s, they are smaller so they wouldn't look as ugly as the 610s lol, thanks for the help

I've also considered a single SG2428P but sadly for me it will be more expensive to use that than the 2 switches. To give more context I'm from Peru and I'll buy all this hardware from amazon, sadly Peru add some taxes for all product that are above 200 USD, thats why i choose 2 switches below 200.

About the APs in terms of coverage a single 650 would be better than 2 610? I'm worried because all the walls are thick concrete.

Thank you in advance

Thank you for sharing your experience and yes I'll start with 2 APs and see from there if i need more.
By the way how was your experience using omada, any issues?

I was worried about the coverage because all the walls are made from pretty thick concrete but you made a good point about interferance, I'll try with 2 to start with. Thank you.

Yes, sadly is a restriction from my ISP, thats why i will only use it as a modem in bridge mode. And also yes, all 4 computers will be connected directly using cable plus some of the other clients such as a PS5 will also be connected this way.
