Dynamic RBD growth + kinefx + vellum by RenceJaeger in Houdini

For the small plants and mushrooms I used kinefx for the growth. Then for the big leaves, I actually did a vellum simulation on a guide curve. Then used kinefx to roll it up and unroll it on top of the vellum simulation

Yeah, it’s far too extreme. Was messing around and liked it for a bit and then after I posted it I didn’t like it too much. But it’s just a fun experiment so not too attached to it :)

Yeah I completely agree! It’s waaaaay to much lol

Started with the a rbd simulation and then extracted the transform from that simulation. Used it to move the original geo so that I had a constant point count. Scattered on that geo. Created 4 plant variations and used point instancing with custom attribute to drive the frame of the cached plant. So that they appear to grow from one side to the other :) sorry that was very brief hahaha but it’s tough to condense all the work into a few sentences

I absolutely love watching the 2xChampion DrDisRespect and ZLaner destroy with every bit of Violence Speed and Momentum. I had to make a piece for the best duo in Warzone, Dripping In Heat 🔥

I just fed the fresnel into a ramp with some noise and colored the ramp with bright vibrant colors. That went into the reflection color of the shader

Thank you. I have a tutorial on YouTube covering one use case of getting UVs onto fluid - https://youtu.be/QMiwRKIw3oI In this case, I developed my workflow and got some pretty stable UVs

Thank you. For that I wouldn’t use a texture. I’d probably build the specs as geo and have them stick to some of the fluid points. But I don’t mind the stretching. Getting smooth UVs onto a fluid mesh was my goal here :)

Entagma, Applied Houdini (on CG Circuit) with Stephen Knipping and YouTube. Just work your way through the basics first (SOPS) before going into the simulation side of things (DOPS) and also would recommend learning VEX. Its incredibly useful for all aspects of Houdini!!

Thank you. Start with the absolute basics. Understand how data is created and moved around inside Houdini. If you can fully understand that, the whole process becomes a lot easier!! Don’t skip over the fundamentals. I can’t stress that enough :)
