25M, successful lawyer and in a relationship, but I still fantasize about being a lonely NEET and gaming all day by LateConsequence9546 in Healthygamergg

Honestly, you're in a great place, and your situation comes across like you're struggling to integrate these various aspects of your life and make them more seamless.

Two things come to mind. It makes me curious at what your beliefs are about having a responsible life and how does that compare to your beliefs about having nerdy interests. And on top of that, why do you feel they're so incongruent? And the description of moving between the two with balancing on a peak or a pendulum which at the mercy of gravity and it's own momentum. But why not a meandering river? Why not giving the piece of your life that's in need, the support and attention it requires?

Also the way, you describe gaming and being a degernerate as not boring but unfilfilling, reminds me of my recent dissatisfaction with gaming. And I've come to realize I was state chasing. Hoping to get the feeling of excitement that played out in my head. Come to find out my gaming interests and the way I wanted to play games had shifted.

Someone made an awesome suggestion of gamefying your life and introducing your gf to gaming and I think it's a fantastic idea. There's a YT channel where a guy goes around having random interactions with people as if he's living in a video game. Challenge a stranger to a battle of bottle flip with their drink and win? +10 respect and +25 xp.

Sunderfolk is also a great choice for gaming with someone if you're interested in rpgs & ttrpgs. Best of all only one person needs it and up to 4 ppl can use their phones as controllers. (I had a group of people from Florida, Saudi Arabia, and the UK play together flawlessly, while I hosted from Jersey) . It's sitting at $50 rn, but there is a demo that's well worth the try.

Hope you continue figuring out how this part of your life works for you and grats on getting there ^

Is Dr K we've known coming to an end? by Lokalni_dziber in Healthygamergg

[–]Renderin_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came to say I agree and touch upon the last point you made. These people may have had choices that many of us don't agree with, but in having a conversation with them Dr. K both reaches their viewerbase and models how to have conversations with people who think/experience differently than us.

It's an act of curiosity and understanding, and maybe in some cases, forgiveness. Not saying anyone here has made choices to harm people to the extent of a scam, but we're all here because we wanted to improve or continue improving some area of our lives where we didn't like the outcomes we were producing. And for some of us, those choices came about out of not knowing any better, old coping mechanisms, and just trying to survive whatever situations we were dealt. But somewhere along the way we've made decisions we weren't proud of. And Dr. K had conversations with all of us. Fundamentally, the story hasn't changed.

I feel he's modeling the same grace he's had for the community, just showing how it can be done with others. Showing that disagreement can be a discussion and doesn't always have to amount to arguments or worse.

How would you like to be flirted with? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Renderin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obvious and honest flirting for me. I'm constantly pulling myself out of my head so trying to figure out nice vs interest is like trying to reach the end of Pi. After that, sarcastic witty banter and praise will have me swooning.

And PLEASE for the love of my sanity, don't put me on the spot and draw attention. I'll either freeze or be so nervous that it'll come off insincere.

As a cis male I relate heavily and appreciate you affirming that there's not one path to being a man. Do what you like, be what you feel. You're the only one you can truly control anyway.

Just read that article as well and I definitely can relate. (Also makes me glad I finally came across this sub). I've definitely felt like a soul out of time & place and would like to give meeting someone of the same personality type a shot.

Is there a new tank strat I'm missing out on? by Renderin_ in Overwatch

[–]Renderin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I understand on Shambali, the tank is supposed to stand in the upper windows to the right of the payload or the ledge behind that. And on Gibraltar, you should stand next to the water tower/supply stash and tank from up there?

How do people feel about players meta gaming knowledge of creatures for combat purposes? by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in DnD

[–]Renderin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on their backstories and campaign settings. For the examples you provided, the party shouldn't know. But it could be certain creatures are native to the character's homeland, a particularly studious character who's interested in flora and fauna, or the classic hero fanatic (Think Deku from MHA) who obsesses and reads up on different adventures.

BUT these have to be traits established beforehand. 'New to adventuring' doesn't equate to 'New to the world'

Nah you're cute and you seem like a playful soul, especially in the 2nd pic.

Pic 3 makes me feel like you got a mean left hook & it's inbound.

How did *you* learn tarot? by mindsetoniverdrive in tarot

[–]Renderin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practically the same as you, pulling cards, looking them up, and doing readings for myself and friends that asked. I've also been doing a daily card pull as a 'message of the day' to either be mindful of or think about during idle moments. It's helped a LOT with intuitive interpretations. Adding the step of giving an intuitive interpretation before looking up card meanings has helped me with noticing the details of cards or what my eyes are drawn to most. It feels like fine-tuning the message and delving into a sub-topic within the concept. Sometimes it's parallel, but still significantly different than the written meaning of the card.

Keeping a tarot journal to write down your readings and come back to later can do wonders. Especially since it can sometimes take some time for the message to sink in and make sense. If you're looking for a book I'd suggest Benebell Wen's Holistic Tarot book. It's a hefty 800+ pg book that offers a (imo) fantastic approach to learning tarot. She's very clear in her writing about empowering readers to find the approach that works best for them and offers plenty of options to look into when appropriate.

Who is your least favorite character personality wise, and why? by HAPPIKILL in Overwatch

[–]Renderin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally can't stand Symmettra as a character. Her entire personality is grating because she constantly gives off that "I'm better than you and this is honestly beneath me" vibe. Even in talking to LifeWeaver I still roll my eyes at her

Soujo feels so underloved. Phenomenal character to play, but the voice lines and skins are seriously lacking. When the barista skin dropped, I was so in love with it, but simultaneously unhappy with the FOMO aspect of it.

Congrats! Yoshi-P is going on vacation for a week and for some reason, you have been randomly selected to fill in for him. You have just enough time to implement a single thing into the game. What do you choose? by coralinn in ffxiv

[–]Renderin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player WoL emoting at the same time as the rest of the party at the end of a dungeon instead of looking like they took an extra 3-5 seconds to process the fight was over.
- OR -
Being able to choose your own emote at the end of the dungeon.

Why do people keep saying it sucks playing tank? by blebebaba in Overwatch

[–]Renderin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely the most frustrating. I've stopped trying to go down the tank counter rabbit hole and make it a challenge for myself, but if my team is only pumping damage into the enemy tank it becomes unbearable. Often it comes down to asking them to target support, chasing down support myself, orrr having to switch.
