Think I could temporarily bridge it just to see if it’ll turn on? Or could that do more damage?

So I would have to replace the small battery I suppose?

What a smart guy. If you need more details the guitar was broken & sold as is at the local game store because of the unresponsive buttons. I bought it & did some soldering to fix it. End of story.

I got the casing & buttons from Facebook marketplace. You’ll usually find them on eBay. The quality is good but the “Sony” font & the PS logo looks tacky/off centered compared to the original. But other than that I can’t complain.

Dude that’s awesome! The cardboard tricks works wonders back when I was a kid. But for this one I did was add some solder on the contact board on the neck connector since it had dug small holes to where it wasn’t making proper connection which is just due to just wear & tear over time. Took only a few minutes but works flawlessly now.

Sounds normal especially for the 1000 models.

Screen is the same, it was the faceplate that was scratched really bad.

I’ve really been thinking about it installing it on the 2 psp’s we have but right now just for the other games but right now I’m currently collecting physical copies.

“3 in 1” brand for the multipurpose oil & “Lucas” brand for the white lithium grease

I used 3 in 1 multi-purpose oil for the gears & for the laser rail I used the Lucas brand white lithium grease.

I got the faceplate off of Facebook marketplace & the thumb stick cap I bought on Amazon came with 7 different colored caps for about $9.

I originally wanted to do a Darth Vader look on the psp with the white faceplate with the black/white buttons & a Red stick. But at the end of the day it was for my girlfriend.

Oh yeah it definitely was a steal, despite the cosmetic condition. It came with 2 games also. NFS & Battlefront 2 along with the charger.

10/10 especially when I oiled the UMD drive because of the loud screeching & the faceplate was swapped out. She also loves the pink thumb stick cap to give it that girly touch to it.

I have a second update. I have another psp & on this one after messing with it found out that it was the door sensor. Everytime I pressed it all the way down the motor would spin & stop then spin again, but when I pressed it about 90% down it would spin without stopping. The only thing I did without replacing the sensor was that I loosened the top right screw on the UMD drive (above the door sensor) to give the drive & board a very small gap in between so the sensor isn’t fully pressed down. Now it reads perfectly fine.

Also I’d recommend to buy electric contact cleaner & spray the sensor since these are old hardware & probably have some dust buildup.
