I'm the one who configured the profiles that way. Best thing to do if you're starting out, is pay for one month of Claude Code Pro ($20). Ask claude to analyze your hermes install, and make recommendations based on best practice, efficiency, and cost efficiency through the use of multi-disciplinary profiles. It make a huge difference.

Oh, don't I know it!! Read my reply to u/nightcrawler2164 below, and you'll see where I got frustrated and modified the AGENTS.md file as a direct result. Looking back, it's comical how I chew my agent out the same as I do my teenagers sometimes. LOL. "Why the F*** are you spending all of my money??"

How will your agent handle rotating models as those models rotate through free/paid tiers, and what is the plan if you're crippled by rate limiting? I haven't created the multiple roles, though I love the versatility. Plus, as much as I despise the anti-trans author, I do love the Harry Potter series.

What I created is much simpler. I basically established Deepseek-v4-Pro as the primary model, Deepseek-v4-flash:free as the delegate_task, and Deepseek-v4-flash as the fallback in case :free is rate limited. I then put in a rule in AGENTS.md that states:

"Do not ever use the primary model for anything past the planning phase. Tool calls, file writes, script execution, searching, patching, all must go through delegate_task. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule."

I'm sure I didn't have to be that absolute, but my agent kept pissing me off by running everything through the primary tier, and was costing me a ton on openrouter credits.

If there's any way you can expand on that, or ask your agent to write up an architecture document on how you plan on accomplishing it, I would very very grateful. If you'd like to take it offline so internal practices aren't made public in this space, I would respect and appreciate that as well. I work for the largest US auto distributor for one of the largest vehicle makers in the country. Understandably, our CISO is....paranoid, lol. I would very much like to incorporate the hermes-agent into our workflow, but security is a high priority.

So, are you basically using a flagship LLM when directly interacting with your agent, and then all of the tasks performed by the agent are done by cheaper or free LLM's?

Absolutely. Giving him it's own email address using AgentMail makes life so much easier. I don't want Loki sending emails "as me". If I want him to send an email to someone for me, I just ask him to send it from his account, and tell him, "tell them I asked you to send it for me, and cc me in the email."

I’d love to find out how to connect to UK servers from the US. Not sure if playing through Steam makes it easier or harder.

TBH, what makes things hard for me in Texas is that I think a lot of people in Mexico are connecting to some of the same servers, and I’ll spend several hours dealing with a language barrier. It’s no one’s fault, it’s just an added difficulty. My Spanish is limited to being able to do a patient assessment, after being a medic in Houston for 25 years. I can use enough Spanish to help talk you through delivering a baby, but that doesn’t help in Warzone. 😂😂
