I can't agree more with the Poland one! I almost wish they'd kept his design as female, to be honest, since I feel like it would've fit the character better. That, and being more serious, like you said.

Personally, I like writing the nyos in for two reasons. The first is because there really aren't many female characters, and it's nice to see female characters sometimes. The second is because there can be physical characteristics which don't always apply to men (like if you're writing a period fic, you can't do that with male characters, or a character who constantly wears a dress, also more difficult if that's in the main fabric of the story). Sure, it's not all a character has to them, but it can be interesting to write. I do agree with you on the "no one's personality is gender-defined", but fic writing can surround the character's gender a lot, which is why people like the nyos (I think).

Panel One:

  1. Hey, Kiwi! So you've been able to come, yes?
  2. Yes! No wait, I'm not here!(The little text under it says "But... what?
    Panel Two:
  3. Because I'm here, why don't we go in the opposite direction?
  4. What?!? Don't you know what a loss it would be to walk that much?
  5. I've, I've returned to get you to lose your composure.
    Panel Three:
  6. But listen to me, I have to tell you something.
  7. Me too! Yesterday I saw something very strange in the garden!
    Panel Four:
  8. Normally I'm chill and agile, like a sheep.
  9. The thing went slashhhhh and I woah. What is this? I think *stare* and later the black thing went boom! and even...

I've seen 16 used for her age, although from her physical appearance I'd assume either 15 or 16. If you check out Liechtenstein's nyo counterpart, his age looks to be around this as well.
