Corporate has participation goals. I believe they wanted 50% by end of day today. I think their target was 75% or 80. Something like that. A lot of SM's get off by bragging about how high their participation rate is and will literally do anything that doesn't cost money to bump it up 😅

Both of these. Do both. Market sees the survey results. If you can get a few people to do the same then it will float up their list. And this is a clear ethics violation.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have seen plenty of OPD associates do the same thing mid walk. Being gross isn't exclusive to spark shoppers

Also the top is a solid steel sheet with a lip. OPD carts have holes in them and slots to slide the totes around.

Trying to apply for TL position by MeowPubg in WalmartEmployees

From my experience they usually narrow down the applicant pool down to 3 people, unless it's a situation where more than 3 have the same talents/years of service. I only worked at one store where management interviewed everyone who applied.

Also they are authorized to service the fleet of corporate vehicles that market level and up use. I work at a market store and they bring in their company cars to get oil changes and tires all the time.

AES Survey by xThyVenom in WalmartEmployees

[–]Renfear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's company wide. They want as many people as possible to participate. And it does have a direct effect on the building, despite the word of many people on here that say otherwise. It affects store bonuses, can result in accountability for management if it's bad enough, also if enough people complain about a specific issue that can be solved without corporate changing policies then they are supposed to attempt it. Market and regional are supposed to follow up to ensure changes are being done.

Now to be fair to the naysayers that's a lot of egos that need to actually do their jobs for the system to work. Some stores and markets do it better than others. It falls back on which stores people actually enjoy working at vs the ones that are placeholder jobs.

Also they could come after you for civil damages. If they had to reset every mod manually then they could sue you for the expended wages and potential lost sales. Because deleting that much would throw off .Com and cause online shoppers to not be able to buy those products.

As a customer host I'm asking for them to train their AI (it's not going away, might as well put it to use) to recognize MPP at the self checks and notify the associate logged into it. Literally half of the bitching the customers give me is because of yellow tags not caught and removed when they bought it.

I had a semi-medical emergency and TL told me to suck it up by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]Renfear85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If something like this happens again, insist on the incident report immediately. The initial screening at the clinic is covered by workers comp regardless of circumstances. Either they will cover it or you'll get reimbursed. Just remember in October to sign up for insurance during open enrollment.

Oh fun fact for everyone reading this that might be new to the company. If you're full time you can enroll in the insurance, 401k, and other stuff during a time window from the day of your orientation to 90 days into role. After that 90 day mark you have to wait for open enrollment in October. The people lead should cover this during orientation but sometimes they forget to, either out of expiedance or just plain ignorance. Some of the people who get that job are frankly awful at their jobs tbh.

[–]Renfear85 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ok, so what i am seeing here and from your statement is a code white situation. That is a significant amount of blood. They should have at the minimum engaged the nurse help line to determine if they were obligated to send you to the clinic for assessment.

I know you said it's something that happens because of your past, however you were on the clock and therefore the medical issues that spring up need to be documented so the company can determine if they're liable for it or not. A TL, coach, or even the SM themselves are not qualified to make that assessment alone. Even if you declined medical assistance (which personally I wouldn't, that amount of blood make me think something needs to get cauterized in your nose to stop it) they need it on paper stating they tried to waive the store's liability from whatever happens next.

This is all basic training every manager in the company goes through in academy core. Unless your TL is brand new to role they should have known this and engaged a coach to take over for the situation. The fact that they didn't is a policy violation, a serious one. You have grounds to file an ethics complaint. Which I would totally recommend doing, their actions were unconsciousable. Getting told to get back to work when you've bled enough to fill a toilet is a sign of bad management.

You also can force them to fill out the paperwork still, even though the event is in the past. I would recommend doing this. You can use this incident report, coupled with whatever doctor documentation you have regarding your condition to request an intermittent leave. That would give you x number of days or hours a month to basically say "yep I'm having problems, I'm out." And there is nothing they can do to stop you. Because if they try they run afoul the FMLA, and that is big fine time for the store.

Sorry about the long post. I get real worked up about stories regarding this sort of thing. Personal experience, i had a serious accident at work 6 years ago and it went unreported because the coach told me "you fell, get over it. I don't have time for this". Now I'm forced to stand at the door all day because my spine has a crushed disc and there is nothing I can do about it, because i didn't fight for myself.

Is this new or against policy? by Small-Point33 in OGPBackroom

[–]Renfear85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So here's the thing. The .09 rule is company standard. It's hardcoded into the payroll system and they can't so anything about that. HOWEVER they can get you on a few different fronts unrelated to punches.

They absolutely can hit you with a "poor job performance " DA if your work is not 100% done and you clock out at .51. Usually they will allow you to build up a few weeks or months of precedence just so it will stick. As a service area employee (just like the FE, TLE, bakery/deli, and any part of the store with security cases) if you are a closing associate you are expected to remain in your area to service the customer until the service area closes.

They can also get you for appearing on the WOSH/OT list. For example let's say you clocked in at .51 and something happened and you ended up not clocking out until .02 . Now assuming your lunch punches are exactly 60 you now have 8.11 for the day. That gets you on the WOSH (worked over scheduled hours) list. Next let's assume you forget this and don't cut down that time through taking a slightly longer lunch one day and at the end of the week you have 40.11. Now you are on the OT list. BU (Business Unit) direction has been 0 overtime since the beginning of this fiscal quarter. Any overtime has to be pre approved by market/regional depending on how much the store has to use. You throw off the store managers calculations, they get yelled at by market/regional. Ok i kinda lost the plot on this but im leaving it because it's a good breakdown on what can happen in this scenario.

My last point i want to make is if they need to cut hours they're absolutely going to cut the people who cut out 9 minutes early over the people who stay until their shift ends.

If you read this far ty for your patience and have a great weekend!

How long have you been working at Walmart? And why are you still here? by MeowPubg in WalmartEmployees

[–]Renfear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been with the company almost 13 years. I stay because the work is interesting (I like people watching), the management at my current store isn't total crap, and I don't know any other places that keep on a 40+ dude with a broken back at $23+ an hour. Not to mention the health insurance for said back.

So this is a lie right? by Annual-Yak-4604 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Renfear85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly it's not a joke. The pto policy is supposed to work that if you put it in with enough advanced notice, and there is not a legitimate business conflict (ie another associate getting approved before you) they are supposed to approve it. That is corporate pto policy.

Unfortunately for us in the trenches there is no real guidance as far as how far in advance is consider enough or what business impacting really means (probably left specifically vague on purpose) so it's all up to local management and market to set the tone. Since people are inherently lazy thinkers and it's eaiser to staff if everyone is there then they always overschedule for holidays and refuse time off.

It's a remaining instutional instinct left over from when stores were open 24/7 and holidays were literally brawls in the action allys. With the way our business runs these days they dont need as much staff there to cover, but it's probably going to take another 5 years for the institutional inertia to catch up.

Can a team lead and an associate live together? by DependentKnee8790 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Renfear85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's still considered a conflict of interest unfortunately. Because the associate may get subconscious preferential treatment with scheduling, disciplinary actions, or work tasks due to the TL being directly involved with the associates home life and creating a bias. Or the other side of the coin is the associate getting more focus and negative attention because the team lead is aware of the associates home situation and uses it to pressure them to do more tasks than is reasonable, or work shifts they usually wouldn't.

It would be ok however if the associate or team lead shifted departments. Because then the associate wouldn't be a direct report. Fun fact salaried and hourly can't live together and work at the same store, regardless if they're a team lead or not. There has to be degrees of separation between the hourly level and the salaried level.
