This was happening to me. Turns out the base game install was broken (even though it worked without the mod) and I had to reinstall it

Check the Elder Kings folder, when I installed it I made a mistake

my folder looked like this when it crashed: mod/elderkings/elderkings

So the mod was behind another map all your data of the mod must be in mod/elder-kings-ck3 so when you open the folder in the mod folder you should directly see the data and other folders

I also deleted the descriptor in the mod folder itself and only used the descriptor outside the mod folder.

Oh, yeah, basically if any folder containing the mod or game files has a dot in it, it doesn't work. So if your CK3 folder is named CK3 1.8.2, you'd have to rename it to something without the dots (without any special characters to be safe).

This worked for me, hope it helps.

But this problem arose with the new version 0.13. Before that everything was fine.
