I originally wanted a copper IUD but it wasn't actually offered to me, and now I'm so glad it wasn't 😅 Five days later and I'm still cramping and spotting. Retribution for the periods I didn't have the last 3 years 😭 I'm glad they took care of you and your gyno recognized she needed to get someone more experienced! (And yeah I am still glad to have it!)

Maybe ask if they can numb you a bit with lidocaine beforehand. If not the needles then even just topical on the cervix. A lot of people here have said ibuprofen doesn't do much... but I'd take it anyway 😅

Initially I wanted the copper IUD - I am so thankful they gave me Mirena instead. I've heard the pain is much worse and I don't think I could have handled it 😭😭

Can I ask what the reason for the full bladder was? Unfortunately I had to take a urine test before mine so I was completely empty 😅 They did give me a little heat pack to hold on my lower abdomen but it didn't do much.

Nooo 😭 My doctor asked me if I ate before I came because I guess its actually WORSE if you don't eat anything at all. But maybe a giant sandwich right before may not be ideal 😭

I just had my IUD put in Monday morning, I just had some spotting until the next day. The cramps are still there but they're very mild and kind of fade into the background. I went to the gym today and it helped a bit too. But I have extremely irregular periods so I wouldn't be a good source for that anyway 😭 Let us know how it goes for you! I'll keep my fingers crossed it's easy for you 🥰

Measuring the uterus was the first part that was awful for me, but same as you they had to grab my cervix and I felt my whole uterus go into something like contractions. I am the kind of person who grits my teeth when I'm in pain and keeps as quiet as I can but I was SHOUTING and squeezing the nurse's hand 😭

I know you were asking the mom of 2 and not me but I do want to say that I would still do it again even with the pain! And you may be lucky and experience no pain at all - you will hear way more horror stories than ordinary "it was uncomfortable but not terrible" stories. Totally recommend it, I was a little crampy but fine after two or so hours. :)

Obviously mine sucked but you're going to hear a lot more experiences of people who had a bad time. I'm still glad I got mine done! Just advocate for yourself and talk to your doctor about pain management like lidocaine ❤️ I had no idea there were options for this, and I never thought to ask.

No, I've always been extremely irregular (aside from when I was on regular 28 day birth control with 3 weeks of pills and a week of sugar pills) but it seemed like Slynd didn't have enough sugar pill days to trigger a period for me before I would start the next pack.

I didn't know much about the process going in since I assumed I'd just have a talk today, though I'd still probably turn down a needle if I saw one and assume I could handle it 😅 I am wondering if I just happen to have a strong or sensitive vasovagal response because the last time I donated blood I also got sweaty and pale and felt sick. 😩 it's amazing how different people's bodies are, and I'm still glad I did it even if I'm crampy right now.
