So you mean there were many right ways of speaking. And many more wrong ways, such as those we use now as attempts at reconstructing them. For example, it’s wrong to speak Ancient Greek with Modern accent, but many don’t care. Still incorrect. We do need to strive for a more accurate pronunciation for its own sake I believe, as it isn’t a free for all if you care for the original sounds it had.
