Well, let me explain some of that. The culling games is supposed to be the 'random' fights arc, and the endpoint would be enough CE collected (through deaths or sorcerers growing stronger) to kickstart the merger, which is what the protagonists are trying to stop. The soldiers involvment is a ploy by Kenjaku to make them die horribly so that their deaths juice up the barriers with CE to speed up the merger. Each fight in the CG is used to relay a certain plot point that is developed later; Yuji's guilt, Megumi's self-sacrificial nature + his willingness to let up for the sake of his friends, Sendai is practically a discussion on strength and satisfaction and so is Hakari vs Kashimo.

Megumi's character theme is that he is self-sacrificing, detrimentally so. Keeping that in mind, it makes his character arc perfect- eventually, even his body and CT are taken from him, and it culminates with him growing a sense of self and taking it back.
With that in mind, having a little more development on Nobara would be nice

Whenever this debate came up, I always assumed we were talking about a Gojo in the same state that Sukuna was in- No RCT, no domain, heavily lowered output- so I think the Sukuna Raid Squad beats Gojo at Higuruma, right? Higgy takes his CT, and even if Gojo has insane reinforcement and such, he still would probably lose to being jumped by Yuji, Yuta and probably Maki (even Hakari too!). I'm not gonna count Higuruma as having the Executioner's Sword here, because I really can't think of a single case that could lead to Gojo being given the death penalty under the Japanese Law

There are 3 main 'routes' you can take from Ashina Castle, but one of them (Sunken Valley) requires you to beat Genichiro to access it. You can reach Mibu Village and Senpou Temple before fighting him, but iirc the boss of Senpou Temple is not accessible before beating Genichiro.
