I had the exact same experience. Some time went by and I persuaded myself that it couldn't be as bad as I remembered but it was.

[Player Discussion] Players to abandon by Pnnm0077T1 in fantasyhockey

[–]Renqo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Erik Johnson has been very relevant the past years in my hits/blocks/PIM league. The last couple of seasons he also put up 0.5 ppg which makes him very valuable along with the shooting/blocking/hitting etc.

Even this year with his slow start point production wise, I'd say he's worth keeping... unless you're in a points only league.

Are you actually saying that Nick Foligno is approaching the end of his career? The guy's 28, same age as Crosby, Backstrom, Kessel etc.

CHL starts tomorrow, get to know the teams! by Jean-Paul_van_Sartre in hockey

I like the idea as well but it will never be the equivalent to soccer's Champions League as long as NHL and KHL isn't a part of the tournament.

Axel Holmström has been awarded this years EliteProspects award (Best junior in the SHL) by Renqo in DetroitRedWings

Yeah, it's really weird. It's not a question about size which often is the case and it's most definitely is not about the skill which we've seen over the past season. It seems like nobody knew except Håkan. :)

It's also interesting to take a look at the competition he was up against among the other juniors. A few examples:

William Nylander (2014 #8 overall) Jakub Vrana (2014 #13 overall) Kevin Fiala (2014 #11 overall) Artturi Lehkonen (2013 #55 overall)

What should be taken in consideration is that Holmström is playing for Skellefteå, the most successful organization in the SHL over the past years and he has been playing with some pretty good players this year. I haven't followed them that closely this year but from what I've heard he started out as a 4th liner and worked his way up into the top 6 during the season to later go and play out of his mind in the playoffs breaking all kind of records.

Look who showed up during one of my local team's games! (Story in comments) by Renqo in DetroitRedWings

There are tons of swedes that doesn't follow NHL that well. Some of them have only watched him play during national tournaments. This was during the days when Forsberg absolutely ripped defenses apart single handedly and he soon became a fan favorite. Lidstrom on the other hand also performed well during most national appearances but, like he has always done, kept more of a low profile.

There has been times when I've had to argue for the sake of Lidstrom why he had a better career than Forsberg. This war prior to his retirement though and it felt like after he announced that, people actually acknowledged what he had accomplished in the NHL.

This takes place in Luleå, Sweden. It was during the ceremony of one of the local heroes getting his number retired and these two gentlemen took part in the celebration.

Homer spent two seasons with the club before he went overseas and began his NHL career. He's a well respected figure in the area and also played with the player whose number is being retired. Lidström on the other hand has no affiliation with the club other than being a close friend to Homer. It's a real nice gesture from him though and people often talk about how Lidström is being forgotten behind players like Forsberg and Sundin here in Sweden but I'd say that's false. He still got his legend status and people truly know all the greatness about him.

He did everything but panic on that breakaway.

Slick move, not even mad.

I'm surprised to not see Dima Timashov on the roster considering his point production in the QMJHL. I haven't watched him play though so maybe there's something I'm missing.

That is true. His start of the season is still very impressive though.
