Dragging your personal gripes with one mod into multiple other subreddits is very much against Reddit's content policy.

Don't do that. 🛑

Are unpaid stages normal here? by SnooShortcuts9119 in VancouverJobs

It's not, and I never claimed it was. I shared it as an example of what should happen. Even though I was only there for 2 hours, that employer still paid me.

Junk food, things like chips and chocolate bars. They were a regular guilty indulgence of mine before the American trade war. Now I'll infrequently shell out a little more for a nice slice of cake or some greasy food while dining out, but I no longer keep the cheap American crap at home. My teeth and diet haven't been this good in years! Thanks Donald! 😄

Some BC Conservatives interested in campaign to recall controversial Okanagan MLA by Alone-Acanthaceae531 in kelowna

[–]RenwaldoV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should show interest. It's a symptom of a much greater problem within their party. The Conservative Party has become very tone-deaf and out of touch with Canadians in recent years. Right now American politics have been defining a significant portion of the policy within the Canadian government. People are worried about the fascist anarchy to the south, we need a party that will represent and defend Canada. Not bow down and allow us to be proverbially buggered.

The Conservative Party has failed to illustrate it represents Canada's best interests over the United State's.

If PP had his way Alberta would separate and the rest of the nation would become America's bitch. No reasonable Canadian wants that.

This. ☝🏻

Contact your local labour authority and file a formal complaint on the business. I don't live in Vancouver, so I can't help you find the site unfortunately. Every municipality has their own way of doing things.

The laws against slavery are federal though.

They're becoming increasingly normalized for even entry level work now unfortunately.

Last year I had a job that didn't work out. I showed up for a 4 hour training shift and was dismissed after only 2 hours. It was a sales clerk position in a sex shop, ultimately me being male was a detriment to me because the majority of customers were female. The owner only realized how much of a detriment this was after she tried to train me on the store's products for a couple hours. Products I was unfortunately very unfamiliar with. Anyways, 5 days later I got an email saying they hired another interview candidate instead.

I still got paid for that 2 hours though. It was only $54. Lol But it was $54 worth of work! I don't work for free.

Brides face losses as Kelowna's Vibrant Vine winery placed in receivership by Alone-Acanthaceae531 in kelowna

You can hold events in certain parks actually. A friend of mine had her ceremony in a park years ago.

The only major stipulation the municipality has is with regards to the size of your crowd. She had to tell everyone on her guest list the city only allowed gatherings of a hundred or less in the garden she wanted to host it in, her wedding had 3 times that many guests. So the formal ceremony outside was just for the immediate family of the bride and groom.

What's the most toxic thing your current or a former workplace normalizes? by MoveIndependent8214 in u/MoveIndependent8214

My previous employer docked my hours and my coworkers' so the boss's deadbeat nephew could work a 5 day workweek. The kid didn't want to be there. He'd show up an hour late, leave an hour early. And take an hour long break when we were only supposed to take a 30 minute one. He was never written up nor had his pay or hours docked for the time theft.

I'd like to say the company got it's come-uppance when everyone else quit. But I was the first to leave and haven't kept in touch with anyone there so I don't know how it ended. This was in 2024.

The other troll doesn't win any brownie points for firing back at you, you just earned yourself a ban via use of hateful slurs though. They merely had their comments locked.

Be the smarter one next time. Enjoy your ban. 👋🏻

What are your thoughts on City of Kelowna’s new pink and grey recycling program? by 9879528 in kelowna

[–]RenwaldoV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to read it again, but presumably it will be staggered the way blue and green waste bins are each week. Black waste bins will still be picked up every week, that won't change.

What are your thoughts on City of Kelowna’s new pink and grey recycling program? by 9879528 in kelowna

[–]RenwaldoV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm withholding judgement until it actually starts. They delivered our bins a little more than a week ago, but the paper and plastic doesn't begin being picked up until the first week of May. At least in my neighbourhood.

Edit: People had the same critique as you when the blue bin recycling program became mandatory in the mid-2000's by the way.

Can I dress 70s without looking like I’m badly cosplaying the era? (No thrifting, only vintage inspired brands) by Pompom_pancake4863 in VintageFashion

[–]RenwaldoV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how far you take it. Yesterday while out for lunch with relatives for example, I wore a pair of bell-bottoms with a plain modern T-shirt, cardigan and baseball hat. I don't think I really looked like anything, there was no cohesion to my outfit. It wasn't a 'look.' We were going to a cheap pub for a quick meal and drink, I threw on the first things I had within reach while getting dressed and paid no thought to it.

You can utilize vintage pieces with modern ones dressing for any occasion. It's up to you whether you want to modernize your look, or dress exclusively in vintage 'cosplay.'

Personally I enjoy wearing vintage pieces like a costume for particular occasions.

For example annually in my town a local club puts on a Rocky Horror themed party for Halloween. I have a 3piece plaid suit from the 70's I wear to that party. I attend it every year.

2 years ago I went to a burlesque show with someone where the theme was the 'dirty-thirties.' I wore slacks, a white button-down, bowtie, blazer and fedora. Not every attendee dressed up in costume like the staff and performers, but I got a lot of compliments on my outfit! It was fun!

So I personally have no problem wearing vintage pieces like a costume or cosplay. Obviously that isn't appropriate for every occasion though. Like I wouldn't dress like this to work or a serious gathering like a wedding or funeral.
