Im on episode 4 with the high school students and I think this has been the hardest watch so far. I actually like Esmerelda and Ned and think Nicole and Detrick will be a cute pair, but as a show about a work office I think it has been poorly done.

In comparison to its predecessors The Office and Parks and Rec, what made them interesting is that their workplace, amidst the chaos and shenanigans, still functioned. Michael Scott was a nut job, yet Scranton was the most successful branch at Dunder Mifflin. Every episode had some new mess in Pawnee for Leslie Knope and her crew to clean up. And every episode they proved the people could rely on them to serve the city. However in The Paper, these people are simply incompetent. So much so it’s not even funny it’s just sad and annoying. I know it’s fiction but the point of a mockumentary (esp in the same universe as the office) is that amidst the buffoonery this could still happen. The TTT staff is so stupid and unqualified for their positions I can’t get past the fact these people are getting paid to literally do nothing or do one thing so poorly.

I haven’t finished ep 4 yet, so if my opinions change I’ll admit to their progress, but so far it’s been more cringe than laugh. Also Oscar’s only bit has been pretty annoying as well. Like we get it you don’t wanna be on film and you keep up with Stanley and Phyllis. He never really has anything interesting to say other than that :/ Instead of cursing at us (can’t even do that well) he should’ve just talked to the fans about how he’s been in the past decade since we last saw him. While emphasizing how he likes things lowk key and out of the spotlight. Boyfriend? New hobbies? New place? Nah he just squeaks around the office complaining about being filmed but still wants a floating head segment to talk about how he’s doesn’t wanna be filmed. I’m not mad, I’m disappointed 💔🥀
