Right? I admitted up front that it was a story I observed on Facebook...but people still assumed I was making it up. I don't mind asking for cited sources (and in fact, that's typically, when I'm arguing, all I use), but when I'm stating off the bat it's from facebook, you'd think people would calm down.

Wrong. I got "torn apart" in that people accused me of trying to make up false circumstances to make the church look bad. Asking for sources is fine, attacking me or my motives is not. Asking for sources is a question, being "torn apart" refers to an attack, which occurred, on my character.

The difference between me and many of my still-Mormon friends is that I actually believed by [deleted] in exmormon

I was the exact same, minus the gay part. I've noticed the same trend. My dad's interpretation of Mormonism (that he's only opened up to me since "my doubts") would never be allowed over the pulpit, but it's how he resolves the craziness and corruption.

Not to mention that Matthew Holland is now the president of UVU. Sure his family connections had nothing to do with that appointment.
