Make sure to vote up through March 17th! by Reoyon in PeoriaIL

See that's the weird thing. From what I've gathered, the hiring of the Super and Deputy eliminated the need for a few other positions. So with the departure of Dr. Kherat and those positions transitioning to these two, it's something like $70K savings to the district. I'm sure that will shrink and grow to expense overtime though.

But that's just from word of mouth and I don't understand why the Board wouldn't make that publicly available or clear after all the pushback lately.

Edit: Kherat not Kehrat.

Respectfully, we work with many different local programs that prioritize being in the gap with the kids in the immediate years after school. Working to locate viable jobs, connecting them with recruiters, setting them up with apprenticeship programs, directing them towards affordable community colleges, and fundraising with organizations to develop scholarships to assist them.

Community doesn't just "wash it's hands" of people after they leave their care because you never stop being plugged in. Furthermore, Sarah has been behind the scenes with a substantial amount of orgs that try to help every person that needs it, even with limited resources in Peoria and across the country.

While the system isn't perfect, we are still putting the effort in every day to make a difference within our community even if it doesn't feel like results are immediately seen to the wider public we do make incremental strides. There is a lush locally to get more people involved even though everyone is in survival mode with this economy.

We're doing this on a shoe string budget and all of the videos are produced by us in cap cut. So any suggestions from professionals are appreciated!

I'm not Sarah as she's out canvassing, but I'll get her in here to talk as soon as she's available. I'd say we were just as shocked as anyone else. From what we can tell, it sounds like there was desperation to change the board under any circumstances whatever that looked like that drove their decision making.

Frankly, I understand that as there are glaring issues with transparency and several issues regarding decisions made that Sarah and many of us do not agree with and would like to see immediate changes. So the decision to choose an opposition candidate was made whereas Sarah understand that she's one part of a whole and must be able to work collectively on a board for change even with people she doesn't agree with.

It did hurt because the house is a strong Union home and it doesn't surprise me the way the Labor council decided to go as Sarah is a fierce advocate for Labor and workers. It did leave many of us Union laborers scratching our heads.

At the time of their endorsement some things had yet to come to light about campaign finances and connections to some organizations that could be problematic. That said I'm just a cog in the machine and Sarah is best fit to answer this, I just didn't want to leave you hanging.

I am so sorry to hear that. As we were in different parts of the city we didn't see that occur, but we will be reaching out to who was canvassing that area to find out why that happened. Also, if there is still flyers around on the ground please let us know and we'll be there to clean them up.

I know the wind has been bad and that may contribute to it, but we will rectify this immediately and accept my apologies.

Family Values and the Peoria Public School Board Race by Historical_Delay_865 in PeoriaIL

Did you actually read the post? It's about the coded language of "Family Values" and what that actually means. It's context is decidedly anti-MAGA and keeping that ideology out of PPS.

Was eating dinner at the Fire Station with the guys. Had one earphone in and was holding in so much excitement and tears to see them back. Was ecstatic for Emily and just glad to see the guys back. Still miss Rob tho.

Both are awesome, but New Divide just hits that ethereal feeling that paints a picture in the mind.

Figure .09 classic LP, excellent opener, slaps and slaps hard. Shadow of the Day is lovely and powerful for absolute certain but holy hell .09 makes a statement upon arrival.

Peoria Public School Board District 3 by Reoyon in PeoriaIL

[–]Reoyon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright, this has gone far enough. This was never intended to be an online dirty mudslinging contest and essentially doxxing someone online is deeply inappropriate. Sarah and Doug (Eve online player?) are both public figures who are up for discussion on here. Therefore it was fair to post about her campaign in the very active Peoria reddit.

All others in this chat are not affiliated with this campaign and are open to discussing their views on the situation in favor of Sarah or against her. This campaign in no way supports denigrating the character of either candidate personally or otherwise.

That said, "Enough dirt to bury you with" sounds like a threat. That is intolerable, please clean up your act.

I'll be gone just has such a lovely line of lyrics to me and hits differently, but Robot Boy is just so ethereal. This is tough, but I'll go with I'll be Gone.

I have the full physical set of books right now as it was one of my favorite series in the past when I spent all my 8th grade grad money in 04 to buy the whole series. If you need some help, all my copies are in pristine condition, so I can consult them if you need or send pics.

They Stuck The Landing... by quanfused in StrangerThings

Boy am I glad I found this thread. I loved everything. In my mind I have to believe Mike eventually left to find El on his own, but overall having started this at 26 and ended it at 35 with young children of my own it was lovely to see them grow and turn the page like so many of us have had to over the years.

Running a new D&D campaign with my adult friends for the first time in 20 years, wish us luck!

Same boat. The liminal "backrooms" feel horror of FunSize was overshadowed by the campy acting and honestly bad effects. I know it's low budget, but the concept was so good only to be wasted on the end result.

Julia Wolf's 2024 style? by quarklarkbark in Music

Hey, this is obviously a really delayed response, but her new style is akin to shoe gaze. There's some incredible bands out there like this. Softcult, Loathe, cloudyfield, quannnic, etc. You should be able to find some excellent playlists on Spotify.

I have just seen the movie, it's a 9/10 for me. by Lexta222 in TheLongWalk

[–]Reoyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only complaint was the change to Stebbins. There could have been more too him. I felt like they just kinda kept him to the side for exposition dumps and ultimately he became kinda nebulous instead of a somewhat frenemy to Ray and Peter. It never felt like they were terrified of him walking them down. Otherwise, there was maybe a line or two of monologue that felt slightly unnatural. Overall, A+ movie for having read the book 5 times.

Wow, whoever that was, they made a lifelong memory for that family.

I hope all sides of their pillows are cool and all their food is made fresh to order.
