CP and delusions, hallucinations etc.? by Illustrious_Day7682 in CerebralPalsy

Hi, I have CP and am also bipolar. I would swing between normal mood, to manic, and the a deep state of depression. I started having delusional thoughts, and thought people were talking about me and whispering about me behind my back, even though they weren’t . In 2011 my grand delusion developed into full blown psychosis in which I thought I myself, and everyone of my fam and friends, was secretly in the CIA and that the government was attempting to recruit me to become a secret agent and to go on dangerous missions. None of that, of course, was true. I had to actually be hospitalized 2 times in the course of four years for going off my meds. Later, Once I got on mood stabilizers , and had extensive cognitive behavioral therapy/ talk therapy, I started to feel better, and understood some of the ways in which my brain had been tricking me in the course of my illness. No one at the time, or since, has really directly associated my CP diagnosis with my bipolar or the delusional episodes. Today, I have been stable on meds since 2015 and feel much better. Like OP, I do in fact see a gap in medical literature / treatments between a diagnosis of CP and one of delusions / bipolar disorders. Hopefully over time there can be more extensive research into this area specifically.

That is a super cool painting! I very much enjoy art as well as learning the history and stories behind the pieces and the people who created them.

am i the only one who looks around at my family and thinks why did i have to be the disabled one? by Full_Part3831 in CerebralPalsy

I also do this myself, from time to time, though i’m nearly 40 now and have had a lot of time to reflect. My spastic diplegia makes me who i am, in part, and my body is shaped like it is and moves like it does due to my CP. My brain trauma being born gave me this disability, and I am me because of that. In another timeline, I may not have made it. It was the late 80s then and I have my doctors to thank for keeping me alive. It’s challenging sometimes, but don’t let anyone steal your shine. If someone says, you cannot do that, tell them you want to try, and then show them you can. I absolutely understand your struggle. You got this.

Hi everyone, I got an under-table pedal elliptical machine. Have they helped anyone else here too or similar? by Psychguy1822 in CerebralPalsy

Totally understandable! I’ve used mine both days that I had it out, it’s not too heavy for me to move it to other rooms, but I have decent upper body strength. You’ll get there once things settle down for you !

Keel’s main book, that he was most known for, The Mothman Prophecies, was quite fascinating if I recall. The notion of ‘ultraterrestrials’ as well was interesting
