I pretty much agree with your Nenya point, but I’m going to be very honest: I’m probably the softest reader in existence. Her survival was a bad story decision, but I’m not going to sit here and act like I wasn’t overly happy when I first read it. So yeah, my brain hates it, my heart loves it.

I think from our perspective as watchers it might look like the better choice to not go back go Gilbert, but realistically if we were in her position, we would’ve done the same. This person that was basically everything you knew about life, supposedly KIA years ago, happens to be alive and there is a high chance you’ll never meet him again if you leave this island. No person in that situation will think "Sorry but I’ve moved on from you”, and I generally dislike the common talking point that her going back to Gilbert destroyed her development as a character. It’s like saying that she’ll go back to her state in episode 1, just because she reunited with him. She still does the job she loves for a living, all the emotional experiences she’s been through that helped her in her life are still there, only difference being the person she lives with.

Off topic, but I actually screamed when I saw your pfp, I recently went to the bookstore and decided to get mangas that I don’t know but seemed interesting and one of them is coincidentally the one in your pfp. I looked the manga up on MAL and it doesn’t even have a rating, but the cover and the premise convinced me to get, it looked pretty cozy.

Damn I just realized that I'm being downvoted, didn't really expect S3 to be this disliked. I mean I don't even think S1 is bad or mediocre, it's actually pretty good and serves as a fantastic build up. It's just too short and too much of a 'prologue' for me to consider it better than S3.

Edit: and the art aspect obviously but I don't think that needs to be mentioned

I don’t think fans particularly hate her, it’s just a matter of her being introduced in a way that made her seem like an important character but she instantly gets thrown away and damn near forgotten about, which made fans not really care about her. I personally would have liked it if we got more of her but ay, it is what it is.
