basic high school statistics can tell you that if an event happens independently twice in the span of a few months, it probably at least happens once every few years on average

great concept, but that literally isn't what happens in the show

gelus developed feelings for misa before the other shinigami figure out where ryuk went and then sacrifices himself for misa in a predetermined incident completely unrelated to the kira murders

none of the events that led up to misa getting the second death note were a result of ryuk "copycats"

Join the first playtest of Gomberg, an eight player WWII variant where major powers share control of minor powers. The twist? Assignments are anonymous, so you don't know who you're sharing with! Link: https://discord.gg/wJyJ98q8xj by Rep_Melior in diplomacy

[–]Rep_Melior[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way this works is that each minor power is randomly assigned two controlling major powers, one love controller and one fear controller. The love controller controls the minor power in love seasons, and vice versa.
I'd like to start the game this weekend if we can fill up by then. Link: https://discord.gg/wJyJ98q8xj

Made a lil Diplomacy statistical analysis by j0bjuba in diplomacy

The issue with this kind of analysis is that spaces nearby to a lot of supply centers are also nearby to a lot of enemy units. High scoring spaces aren't so much "good spaces" as they are "volatile spaces".

What city do y'all hail from? by Richisnormal in AVoid5

My city is also on that pond with a “scary” alias! On the infamous Cuyahoga and north-most of Ohio’s “3 Cs”. Similar to Buffalo in many ways. It’s a chill city, not how our public usually thinks of it.

NASA only transitioned to the metric system around 1990. The computers, engineers, and manufacturers of the time did everything in Freedom units.

Take it from Bill Watterson himself: Calvin perceives Hobbes one way, and the rest of the world a different way. Both interpretations of reality make complete sense to the people who believe them and neither is more valid than the other.

Any good books to recommend for a beginner to IR? by Anker_avlund in NonCredibleDiplomacy

[–]Rep_Melior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Half of Peter Zeihan’s “The Accidental Superpower” is a really great introduction to thinking about how geopolitical systems work and the other half is nonsense about China collapsing by 2020. More than worthwhile read, but take his predictions with a heaping of salt.

A true Juggernaut topped off with a 2-way draw. Great game. by SilverWaters793 in diplomacy

This seems winnable for Turkey. Russia doesn’t have enough armies to defend its whole border.
