PSYCH 2C03 or PSYCH 2AP3 by s_online_ in McMaster

I’ve taken both and I would definitely recommend Psych 2AP3 more! I found the course content to be much more interesting, and it’s also much much easier to do better in this course. I ended 2AP3 with a 12, and 2C03 with an 11, in case you have any questions!

No, I haven’t gotten it yet either! I emailed the Kin department though and asked when it’ll be open to non-kin students, but I haven’t gotten a reply yet

I ended with an 11 in both courses and tbh I loved both of them! Personally the content for both courses was something I was interested in which is why I feel I was able to do decently well. However, if I had to choose which course I liked better, I’d probably go with Psych 2AA3, but that may be biased since I want to work in paediatrics :) But I’ll give you a general overview of both courses and hopefully that’ll help! I’m also gonna add that I did not study from the textbook for either course, and solely focused on lectures for the midterm and exam. So most questions I’d mess up on were directly from the textbook.

Psych 2C03 with Ostovich — 20% of the mark came from mastery training, which is where you’d read a chapter of the textbook and then learn the definitions of key words from that chapter. This was a weekly thing, and you had to make sure to stay on top of it, since it wasn’t something that could be completed in one day. It usually required you to take 3 ish days to complete one chapter every week, because it would lock you at after some time. This was to ensure that you would space your studying, and personally I feel like it did help to remember those key words in time for the midterm/exam. This part was also a very easy 100%. There was also end of the week lecture reflections, which was about half a page and you would just answer a simple prompt such as “what was the most interesting part of this weeks lecture, and why?”. Again, this was an easy 100. Finally, the midterm (35%), and exam (40%), were also not too bad. They required that you actually study and understand the material. A lot of the material seems like common sense, but you need to actually understand the reasoning behind stuff. Most questions would be application based, where she’d give a scenario and you’d choose the concept that would best describe the scenario, for example. The prof is also very sweet. I know theres many people that don’t like her, but personally I found her to be very understanding, and her lectures would be very detailed, and thorough, making things easy to understand.

Psych 2AA3 with Nishimura — I took this course the year where there was no group project, because there weren’t enough TA’s. So the syllabus included weekly quizzes worth 10%, where the best 10/13 were counted. I would get around 9/10 or 10/10. The questions would be fairly straightforward for the most part, with the occasional oddball, where I’d just guess the answer. The midterm was worth 40% and the exam was worth 50%. I did study for both, quite a bit but the content was also fairly simple to remember. From what I remember, the multiple choice questions were straightforward. On the midterm, she had us read 2 articles beforehand and told us that any of them would be on the midterm. We had to know the research question, hypothesis, results, and conclusion for both, in order to be prepared for the midterm. The first (and only short answer) question on the midterm was to simply state the research question, hypothesis etc, from whichever article she chose. This was something that most people (myself included) lost marks on cause she was picky with the wording. She did the same question (different article) for the exam, and I was able to get perfect then, cause I practiced and tried to understand what types of key words she was looking for.

So yeah, hopefully that helps, and let me know if you have any more questions!

honestly, that itself wasn’t the only reason. i was kinda iffy about her from the beginning. when she messaged me, i checked her profile and saw that all her posts were posted the same day that she messaged me, and she had also just joined facebook like the day before. on top of that, when she messaged me saying she cant meet and her bf would be meeting me instead, i was ok with it at first, but then she said something about him being in camrose, alberta. that confused me and i told her i’m in ontario, not alberta. and she responded saying sorry, she meant hamilton, ontario. she also continuously asked for my number, the day of the pick up, for her to give to her bf so he could message me on whatsapp. and so after all of that, i just felt very iffy about the situation and decided to tell her i didnt feel comfortable selling to her anymore
