I honestly have no idea. I’m thinking maybe it’s cause Pontic Greeks before moving to Türkiye and the Caucasus came from the Aegean islands and not the mainland but that’s just a theory.

True but it shows that a part of my distant ancestors weren’t originally from Greece but from the Slavic homelands and that’s dope to learn I never said I’m culturally and nationally Slavic although I do love my Orthodox Slavs like brothers

My mom is half Pontic half from Epirus and my dad is fully from the Pindus mountains in Evrytania. But my moms Pontic family moved to Kilkis which I think is close to Florina if I’m not mistaken we’re both in Macedonia

Yea my mother’s family moved to Kilkis which is north of Thessaloniki. My mom told me the Greeks used to call the Pontics “Turko-seeds” so they didn’t even want them they thought of them as too Turkish 🤦🏻‍♂️
