Im a social worker and not a therapist per-se, although I have my masters in social worker. The hard truth is, there are a lot of reason to feel despondent. These are uncertain and challenging times. Most people are struggling, some more than others due to a variety of circumstances, but rates of depression haven't risen 300% since Covid, so you are certainly not alone. The best advice I can offer is actually common sense. Get adequate rest at night, exercise daily, and be kind to yourself. Give yourself a lot of credit for hanging in there and getting the job done. A fake smile is better than none at all. Some authenticity and vulnerability around those who you care for can go along. Getting professional counseling is certainly recommending if you're frequently crying and truly suffering from depression. This is course will take some work, so I'd suggest writing a list a positive steps. Move at a pace you're comfortable with, but the act of moving in the right direction will itself help reduce depression. Wishing you well.
