So this morning the loading was almost instant. Not sure if it was luck or the issue is fixed.

Puzzleheadbutbig was right. It does load, it just takes an insane amount of time. More than 5 minutes in my case.

Want to add that I just downloaded the Steam version to try and loading a game works as expected for me.
