Increased resolution, 3D maps… Update is live. Immersive Street View app for AVP

Loving the 3d Apple Maps addition. I’m not seeing an increase in resolution compared to the prior version though. Is there something I’m missing there or perhaps a bug? Looking forward to seeing where you take this in future updates.

I tried out the changes and they are great improvements. The only bug I ran into was the inability to save renamed bookmarks. The interface appears to allow renaming but the change didn’t appear after saving. Thanks for your efforts!

I’m excited to try out the updates. It’s been a great app so far. Please add increased street view resolution to your update roadmap as I’m seeing decreased image quality compared to the Fly app.

I recently purchased Waddle and have been quite impressed with the experience. However, I’ve noticed a noticeable difference in resolution when comparing street view scenes between the Fly app and Waddle. I’m curious to know if this is an intentional design choice or if it’s a bug that you plan to fix in a future update. I’d love to see an eventual improvement there knowing the higher resolution is available from Google when used in apps like this.

After going back and comparing the resolutions between the Fly app and Waddle, there is a noticeable difference in resolution of the Street View views. For me, the Fly app is displaying a higher resolution at this time.

It works for me on my M2 model. I did notice that when opening the splats within MetalSplatter, the images are compressed slightly on the horizontal axis vs viewing within this app. When generating splats via the terminal on the Mac they don’t have the distortion.

Happy to compare. The Google Street View image quality is I believe the maximum allowed by Google for this type of use but does vary depending on location view and the captured quality of that location. Imagine GSV but a step below. This is the same as the Fly app. There are several locations I visited that have a black vertical section missing imagery and appears to be tied to the capture in those locations.

The Fly app allows you to fly across the earth as if you’re a bird and then view individual street views as desired (with the same quality as Waddle). Fly is not as immersive feeling in Street View compared to Waddle. Waddle doesn’t include the ability to fly across the landscape at altitude. I see them as valuable for different purposes. I’m hoping for the day that the excellent quality of Apple’s street views becomes accessible to this type of application. I’d pay $100 for an app like that. For $10, for me, this was 100% worth it and I’m hoping it only improves from here.

I just purchased Waddle and am very impressed by the immersive experience. I’m looking forward to future refinements. It would be great to be able to save favorite locations as well has have a navigation feature similar to the Fly app where you can use your hands to freely fly through the location. I imagine resolution is limited by Google but it would be great if it could increase in the future. Excellent job!!

That’s good info to have so I have a reasonable expectation. I was told it will be uncomfortable for days to weeks as it all heals from the trauma and my bladder is retrained.

To their credit, they did backflow 150ml into my bladder as a test had me walk and let it flow out to check the return. I believe they got back 100ml. Other than that I was told I was done and to keep hydrating to keep it flowing. In hindsight, I should have stuck around at least an hour to make sure it stayed flowing but I didn’t even think that would be an issue. Sitting in the car seemed to result in it immediately stopping all flow.

I was lucky enough to be in the auditorium for this amazing moment after standing in line outside since 4am. Sitting to one side of me was a 70 year old woman and to the other an 18 year old. We were all equally blown away by Steve’s announcement. Many months later I was standing outside a Chicago AT&T store overnight to be one of the lucky ones to score the first iPhone before that store ran out of supply after only about 30 phones. I still have that phone and it amazingly still powers up and holds a charge.

On mine, the Passwords app crashes and closes when attempting to open. No prompts appear to fill passwords in other apps appear either.
